I Am Getting Oil In My Intake Tube Whats Up!!!!

I took my air intake tube off by the mass air and there is alittle bit of oil sitting there is this normal why would there be oil to go into the supercharger...

That is not normal. It seems like your blower may be leaking oil through the seals. You may want to have your blower inspected.

When I found oil in my intake tube it was because my valve cover breather was spewing oil through the hose and into the blower inlet tube. I know this was the case because I had a Powerdyne that didn't have oil in it.

Generally speaking, if the oil is in the intake tract before the blower, the only way it can get there is through the line that comes off your valve cover and the reason oil is in that line is usually related to blowby.

If the oil is after the blower, AND the intake tract in front of it is dry, the oil is most likely due to seals in the blower.

It sounded like your oil is before the blower which would normally indicate blowby. Are you running a stock bottom end? I noticed your sig said "MTI motor". I take it that means your bottom end has been built for boost (eg. forged pistons, etc.). How many miles are on it? Do you have any other symptoms of blowby? Any oil vapors coming out through the oil fill?

I feel your pain as I just found oil in my intake tract but it was all after the blower so I sent mine in for a rebuild by Vortech.

After I just posted a response I reread your original post and this may be a wild shot in the dark but you didn't just happen to clean and "recharge' your air filter did you? Sometimes we tend to spray too much of the oil on the filter and it can blow through but it certainly wouldn't amout to much and may have a pinkish tinge to it.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the info guys the oil is before the supercharger and I just sent my computer to mti to have it retuned I am going to run 10lbs of boost. I just bought this car a couple of weeks ago and just now going over everything I see that my power steering oil is coming up throw the cap but that maybe from over fill. I have seen no other blowby so far. thanks

Hey, don't take this the wrong way but if you ask for advise around here sometimes you'll get more than you want ;-)

You responded that your oil is before the blower. Again, the only way oil can get there is from the line from the valve cover. Oil isn't just spashing up in there .... it's vaporized ....... it's blowby.

I certainly wouldn't be uping my boost until I confirmed another, even if unlikely, source. Heck, I'd be removing my blower belt in the attempt to hold back further damage. which could be too late.

It even makes more sense since you tell us that you just bought this car. You have no idea how it's been driven or is "true' history. I think you need to thoroughly check this motor out before you do anything else or just be prepared for your rebuild.

But, hey, it's just my .02. Anyone else care to chime in here? Am I off the deep end?

I'd say its a logical responce :D I wouldn't be sending out a computer for a "10 PSI" mail order tune. I wouldn't imagine it would be anywhere close to right. Every car is different. Get it on a wideband and tune it yourself or someone who is competent.

The car only has 35k miles on it and 16k on the motor. the guy never raced it he said I think if he were going to race it it would have some supsension work or a 12 bolt rearend, MTI is well known they did all the work to it They guy spent 20k there on this car it was dyno tuned by them the said they still had all the dyno tuning on recored to all they needed was my computer to up the fuel and what ever else they do. thanks

I would'nt say thatjust because your getting a little blow by the motor is shot. On a supercharged car a little blow by is to be expected. That is why you have a pcv system on a stock car. You will have alittle blow by on a supercharged motor. That will pressurize the crankcase and cause some oil to be pushed through the ventilation system. If your getting smoke out the exaust, or puffs of smoke coming through the breather on the valve cover, then there is a problem. I've ran a few blowers with oil in the intake tract and the motors fine. I built the motors and have torn them back down. Also to be sure do a leak down test on the cylinders.
