other than lotsa green, what does it take to run 10's in the 1/4 & 6's in the 1/8 with full weight (t-top car), thru the muffler(s), on 93 octane, with m6, & on drag radials?

Close to 600rwhp, lots of ways to get there. Not sure exactly what you are asking.

This is such a broad question because there are different ways to get their. Here is an example of a recipe that should get you in the 10's on 93 pump gas:

Motor: low compression (9.1-9.5:1) 355,383 or 396

Heads: ported LT1 heads or portedAFR heads
Cam: custom grind blower cam

Blower: ATI D1SC or Vortech T-trim

Fuel: upgraded fuel system with bigger injectors (depends on the power level of the car)

Exhaust: Hooker Longtube headers and 3 in. catback exhaust

Suspension: Spohn or BMR - torque arm, LCA's, Drag Bar, Hal Drag shocks and springs.

Drivetrain: 12 bolt or 9-in , McLeod Street Twin clutch and heavy duty driveshaft.

That should get you started. :)

If your goal is only to get into the 10's, the following is probably the simplest and cheapest way to get there:

383 with cast crank, stock rods, and SRP or equiv. 2 valve relief pistons. Use ARP main and rod bolts.

Zero deck the block.

Compression should be 11.25 - 11.75 / 1

AFR 210 cc or ported LT4 heads. The 210's are probably cheaper in the end.

Extreme 236/242 cam.

Hooker or Jet-Hot LT headers.

This should make around 450 - 470 rwhp and be reasonably streatable and easy on the wallet. That would be good for 10.70's - 10.90's at 122 - 125 mph depending on state of tune and 60' time.

Yeah, I guess I assumed without [cheating with;)] nitrous. :D

For that matter, Frank B is running 11.60's with a cam-only, stock head and short block LT-1. Steve S is running 11.90's with a completely stock long block. If you start with one of those cars and add a safe 125 shot, you could be in the 10's without even pulling the motor.

You would only need:

All bolt-on's: CAI, 52 mm TB, UD pulleys, 160 T-stat, LT headers/exhaust, 1.6 or adjustable 1.7 rockers, alot of gear and tire, lighten the car a bit, add a 125 shot of nitrous, and you're there.

i was hoping for 10's in the 1/4 & 6's in the 1/8 with motor or motor with boost & 9's in the 1/4 & 5's (if reasonable) in the 1/8.

in the above post i meant 9's in the 1/4 & 5's in the 1/8 (if reasonable) on spray.

What kind of budget are you working with?? Let me just say what you expect out of you car will cost alot of money. There are alot of unforseen problems that occur when you build a car of this magnitude. It is not as easy as it looks. You are not going to buy all these parts and put the car together and expect it to run 10's and 9's. There is alot of extensive work with suspension setup and tuning of the motor.

Provided the car is setup to launch, I think you can make way with the right cam, long tubes, light tooling of the factory heads, and 10lbs.

Just copy Dave Butcher, or SCZ28. :)
