Im starting to look into a turbo or super. What do most LT1 people do? Anyone know of any links for FI newbs? I want to greatly research this before I proceed(and I dont have the cash :( ).

As for popularity the superchargers far out number turbos, mainly because there are 2 large manufacturers that make an excellent product. Id rather break the one I have then fix it :D Actually I was thinking(sorry I really dont know much about FI) about running a boost controler, keep it as low as I can then when the need comes turn it up. Otherwise you could always program for the highest boost and then run the thing pig rich on your lower boost settings (loose alot of power). I didnt even think about that part, I wouldnt want to have to reprogram evertime I want to change the boost. I do own LT1 edit though so its not a big deal to reprogram. Turbocharged 08-21-2003, 12:02 AM I can get you into a STS turbo kit for around $3000. You can run low boost on what you have and then turn up the boost as you can afford to modify the rest of the car. Our system goes on in about 3 hours and we gained 12 mph in the 1/4 at 5 psi boost and 14 mph at 7 psi boost on bone stock LT1's. Our 93 is running in the 11's at 4300' elevation with stock heads and cam, 2.73 gears and a 2200 stall. Call if you have any questions. This time is almost identical to what my Chevelle runs on BFG's at 17 psi boost and it runs 11's all day on slicks. A supercharged car can get the same effect by letting off the gas. That's right! If you don't want full boost, don't use full throttle. :irk: My car makes 14 psi boost at full throttle, but at 3/4 throttle, it only makes 8. Turbocharged 08-21-2003, 11:48 PM Good to hear from you again Mike. With the centrifugal superchargers you can control your boost by when you shift too. They build boost linearly so the higher you rev, the more boost they make. If you have 14 psi at 6000, you can probably shift at 4000 and have around 8 psi. Course you have to have a stick or manual valve body. Don't part throttle positions tend to lean out more than full throttle settings? If not, don't you get crappy mileage just wheeling around town at part throttle? Hi/low boost settings are cool cause you can run your water injection on the high setting and not on the low so you don't have to have a 5 gallon tank of water. We sometimes run a lockout switch on our truck kits so that you can turn the boost to low setting and then take the key out. That way the kids can't run the wheels off your truck.
