raiderman119 08-15-2003, 07:21 PM I was wandering about how much insurance would be on a 3rd gen v6 with my traffic charge (114 in a 55). it will be in the 2000-3000 dollar range if i get one. im mot looking for an exact amount but more of just an estimate or if it would even be affordable. im just looking for liability. right now i have both insurances (where they pay for your car even if its your fault) and its 618 every 6 months. thanks alot
CamaroZ28Coupe 08-15-2003, 08:46 PM i just did the whole insurance hunt today and it diddnt make me feel to good about myself. i was given a quote for about 2500 and it may not seem to bad but i would think for a 20 year old car it wouldnt have been so high at all. so based on this you can maybee gauge what you would pay: im eighteen and i have a z28
so for a 6 it should be less. by the way what do you think of 2500 high or low?
lordmetalz28 08-15-2003, 09:31 PM i pay 400 hundred dollars a month for my iroc-z and i have a clean lisense from december till may i pay 80 buck to keep it in the garage so i can keep plates on it insurance sucks i hope they loseeeeeee billions from our blackout
unvc92camarors 08-15-2003, 10:12 PM well, im right near you (cinci) so this should be close to what you might pay
i'm with state farm, primary driver on my 92 camaro rs v6
and i think i do about 140 a month
do the math, and find out what that equates to a year
funny thing is, started out about 120 then i was raised steadily to 140 for no reason at all
economy and greedy insurance people i gues:no:
kevin 2.8 08-15-2003, 11:56 PM yeah on my 85 2.8v6 im paying 210 a month abouts for the camaro, 21 y/o clean record. i also have an 86 lincoln on there so my insurance is 412$ a month for just liability.
ow
Black6SpdTA 08-16-2003, 12:08 AM I'm paying like $91/month for JUST liability (or collision, the bare minimum you're required to have).
I'm 16, V8 car, no traffic violations. Are you looking for full coverage?

lordmetalz28 08-16-2003, 12:12 AM whoa looks like im getting arsefocked or as you can say ass****ed but i live in the tri state are and its very expensive here
maybe ill have to reshope or get married to lower it and oh 400 a month for liability only is cheapest gieco wanted 700 a month
doug791 08-16-2003, 12:49 AM (all prices as stated are in canadian funds)
16 years old, clean record (so far see how long that lasts)
1990 camaro iroc-z 5.7L
with liability and fire/theft its around 4200 a year (420 a month? something like that) With both of those and collision its a little over 6 grand a year.
KnightRider350 08-16-2003, 03:21 AM I'm 19, my record reads like a fricking "Smokey and the Bandit"esque novel. I'm paying $240 every 6 monthes for liability, on both of my firebirds. An '86 and an '88, both V8's, if this helps any.
I recommend if you have another car (or your significant other/parents), put the F-Body on "hobby car"...lowered my insurance from $1300/6 monthes to the $240. There's no restriction here on how much you drive your hobby car, as long as there's more mileage on your regular vehicle. :D
kandied91z 08-16-2003, 03:56 AM i sure don't miss those days.
best bet is to get a v6 obviously for insurance reasons and secondary would be to purchase a beater for a daily driver if you driving is that bad. mine use to be around 2400 a year for full coverage but after i went through the stages and was able to make it a recreational vehicle it's less then half that a year which is great.
other things to take into account are the newer 3rdgens with air bags and key coded keys. these will reduce your insurance rates and if you have to get an older thirdgen be sure to ask about alarm discounts. i knocked off almost $35 a month by having an airbag and a alarm on my z back in the day.
good luck.
:)
Kuruption562 08-16-2003, 05:39 AM i dont got insurance
lordmetalz28 08-16-2003, 06:18 AM oh yeah thats funny my insuranace report reards that i have airbags antilock brakes daytime running lights on an 87 camaro so they did knock off some i also have an alarma that dosent exsist best bet buy a 6 cylinder and swap the motor afte ryou get insurance whos gonna know. **** the government
Damen 08-16-2003, 08:32 AM Man, I thought my insurance was bad, but you guys are making me feel better..
89 IROC-Z (305) Convertible is only running me 950/yr (admittedly for liability only), and I thought that was expensive ;)
Edit: oh yea, and I'm 20 and have a 86 in a 65 zone ticket on my record, but that's it.
Z28James 08-16-2003, 09:52 AM When I lived in michigan my 88 IROC-Z for liability was $78/month. here in florida for my 87 Z28 I pay $140/month...again for liability. I have to go through them mafia "we say yes to anyone" insurance places now because of 4 tickets, and those places believe me when i say I have none...the other places actually check :) . Back when I was 18 and i had my 94 Z28 full coverage I paid $180/month.

Unless he gets liability...if he wrecks it with full coverage and then they find out....lil thing i like to call insurance fraud ;)
KnightRider350 08-16-2003, 12:10 PM I've had pretty close to a dozen tickets in my three years of driving. Thank god for the record being wiped clean at 18.
...I've done far worse then 86 in a 65 though... heh.
Rule #1: When you see the red lights, don't get cocky. Yes, you have a sports car. Yes, they're driving a family sedan. ... yes, they have about a dozen more squads within spitting distance of your location. Yes, you're very very screwed. ;)
