Wrong Injectors??

Hey everyone. Ive got a problem that I HOPE someone can help me with.

A while back, I was looking for some 50 lb injectors to replace my 30s and FMU. I asked around, and Racetronix was recommended by several members, so I checked them out. They had some high-Z injectors listed, with (msd/holley) typed next to them. I called up Ed Wright to see if he could change my tune for these, and he said yes. I then ordered them from Racetronix.

When they came in, I had some other things going on, so I didn't get the computer sent off till last week to get it reprogrammed, so the injectors have just been setting there. The problem arose when I called Ed, and told him I had Delphi/MSD/Holley 50 lb injectors, and he said that Delphi and MSD/Holley are NOT the same 50 lb injector. I told him racetronix had the injectors I had ordered listed as Delphi/MSD/Holley, so he said he could program for MSDs so thats what I had him do. Well, it turns out must not be the same, because my car wont idle in open loop, and under closed loop, I am seeing blms in the 140-150 range (approx + 30%). Under full throttle my 02s wont go over 835, and they used to go to 880 with the 30s and FMU.

Does anybody know of these injectors are or aren't MSDs, and if they aren't how do I get programmed for them (obdII).

Delphi factory engineers have told Racetronix that it is the same injector. The MSD has a different part number as with all injectors made for third parties. Both are made with the same parts and have the same flow specs.

Thanks for the quick reply! I noticed that on your website you only show delphi low-Z 50lb injectors now. Are both the same as their MSD counterparts, or only the low impedance units listed now?

They seem to not be reacting well to Ed Wrights MSD 50lb program (not idling until closed loop, etc). The car was running great prior to the switch. The only reason I made the switch is that I am about to add a NX kit to it, and wanted a stable fuel pressure, so no FMU.

I just checked the website again, and the main page shows the delphi 50s as low-z. But if you click on them, the description has them listed as high-z, so I am assuming the low-z on the main page is a misprint.

Looks like its time for LJ's impedance converter. Please tell me you didn't pay Ed Wright $350 to give you a tune for those injectors. You could have easily made the change yourself with LT1 edit or tunercat.

I have been contemplating doing my own programming, but all of the OBDII options i have seen run ALOT more $$$ than the OBDI programming.

I figured I had already paid Ed Wright the 350 for the original tune a few years back, so to modify it was 150, and alot simpler than trying to get my own programming setup. Now I am starting to wonder though.

Converting to OBD1, which I did was $150, Tunercat was less than $100, and a cable was less than $100. I would hate to think of all the money I would have wasted if I had to spend $150 every time I changed things. Originally I wanted Ed to put my OBD2 program that he did for me on a OBD1 computer, he wanted $350. I paid $500 for the dyno tune and I wasn't going to spend that kind of money for something I couldn't tune again, so I did the above changes and have't looked back. I was able to program (myself) almost a .8 sec and 11 mph improvement in quarter mile time at the track. just FYI. Tuning really isn't hard.
