Gas in Oil, Is my Pan Gasket Dead?

Hey guys, I am in the process of changing my intake manifold on my late model (1 piece rear main) 383 stroker. The stock aluminum intake was warped and I nailed a Performer cheap. Last night I pull the old intake and quit for the night. Well, my steel fuel line was hanging over the lifter valley and it drained whatever fuel that was left in the line into my motor. I didn't even think to do something about the fuel line last night because the opening was higher than everything else.

Tonight I go to work on the car again when I noticed the gas smell. To make things better a gas/oil mix was leaking from my oil pan at the lowest spot just beneath the rear main seal. I drained everything that second. It must of drained a good deal of gas to raise my fluid level that high. The pan gasket is new with the motor (less than 1000 miles) and it is a Fel-Pro 1 piece gasket with the little bushings that prevent overtighting.

The question is, is my gasket toast? Even better, after I refill the pan with oil (haven't done that yet) is my motor itself going to be okay? The only gas that should be left is what's on the surface of the crank, pan sides, and cam.

I am really hoping that I everything is okay because I have had to yank this motor TWICE already because of stupid little things. Thanks guys.

well, gas in the motor is not good.!. if you run it long, b/c gas can ruin your bearings. so id be worried about your bearings rather than your gaskets...
but maybe just to be safe you should replace the gasket.
hope you fix it man,.. good luck ,

I dont think itd be nec. to change the gasket. it should be gas resistent. I have that gasket in my eng. too. but, I would flush the eng. w/fresh oil to remove as much fuel as pos. before turning it over or installing the intake. just pour oil over the cam real good and maybe even over fill it w/oil to make sure to flush it out. drain all the oil again and then install the intake. fill the oil the proper amount w/good oil and just watch oil press. to make sure it doesnt go below whatever it was at before. it should be fine though.

I doubt there was enough gas in contact with the gasket long enough to hurt it. I'd just change the oil and recoat any parts that had the oil washed off. Some engine cleaners have kerosine in them and they can be added to the oil with the engine running.
