Uncoated Headers

The headers they sent me (from Pacesetter) weren't the Jet Hot coated ones I ordered, but are in fact uncoated. I am expecting that it will take weeks to get new coated ones, plus it will be another hassle bringing them across the border. So I am trying to decide if I should keep the uncoated ones and demand compensation for the screw up (rather then sending them back).

The uncoated ones have only a cheap packing paint of black on them. Should I hold out for the coated ones? Should I just keep the uncoated (I don't drive in the rain anyways)? Should I scrape the packing paint off and spray a high temp paint on (though I don't have a big enough oven to do a proper job, I am sure)?

Any opinons are appreciated.

my suggestion: Get them ceramic coated locally at redi-strip in delta.. i've seen their work and was very impressed

It might be easier to get them coated here, and have the company who you bought the headers off pay for it. Redi-strip does a great job of coating headers and they are local (Richmond I think).

Resnick the dyno guy used to do ceramic header coating too. At least when he was in Langley... One other low cost option is LPS Cold Galvanize which is a spray zinc coating. I used it on some BBC headers and it prevented rust and looked fine for about 3 years, and even then it only started to show a little rust on a few edges. Just an alternative.

Thanks for the ideas. I was thinking of not doing anything since even uncoated, they would still look better than the stock manifolds, which rust before they leave the dealer's lot. But maybe I'll look into the local options and see what arrangement I can come to with Redline and Pacesetter.
