'95 vented opti on a '94 non vented car...'94 Bad A Z28 08-05-2003, 10:17 PM Will I be able to put a vented opti from a '95 Z28 on my '94 Z28, and if so what modifications will I have to make, to make it work?! TIA  SAM 08-05-2003, 11:01 PM I just bought all the stuff to convert my 94.. Here's the things I can think of offhand: Vented opti 95 Timing chain cover 95 Wiring harness vacuum lines some bolt thingy.. and the toughest part will be changing the dowel pin on your camshaft. You need a longer dowel pin for the vented opti.. I bought all the parts needed new except for the dowel pin for $360 from a dealer in Florida. I can get the info in no one else here doesn't post before I can find it... '94 Bad A Z28 08-06-2003, 02:13 AM Hrm... seems to be a lot of work that I really don't want to do, lol. SAM 08-06-2003, 07:11 AM Yeah I didn't bother last time I changed the opti either. Getting the dowel pin out of your 94 cam isn't easy let alone finding the longer dowel pin you need. CompCams was nice enough to send me the long one I needed since I cut the dowel pin last year when I changed heads/cam.. Most people do the upgrade when they change cams since they usually come w/ longer dowels... ;) Soma07 08-07-2003, 01:21 AM Its not as simple as just replacing the pin. The entire cam has to be replaced, period. The hole in the center of the stock 93-94 opti is not large enough to accept the end of the 95+ opti. I suppose you could drill it out but it would probably be easier to swap the cam than to do that. | ||
