What's with the "Ugly Kids" billboards in SA??

Anyone else see these billboards?? There's one on 410 at 10, and another on 35N on the NE side. For the folks that have no idea what I'm talking about, the billboard reads "Ugly Kids" in between two pictures of these kids...looks like school pictures taken. Also, by the looks of the clothes, they were taken back in the 70's. Anyway, thought I'd see if anyone knew the story behind the billboards. Also, I'm really bored at work this morning :D

Like most advertising, I didn't pay much attention to it. Kinda like the banner ads on this website and others.

Awww, and I thought of all the people who would know something about this it would be Richard. Damn, now I'll have to do some investigating to find out what they are.

My guess would be it has to do with the ugly clothes from the 70's and to go out and buy new clothes.

Okay, I got the scoop. It seems it an advertisement from Clear Channel Communications for a couple of DeeJays soon to hit the air here in town. It's something about "ugly kids" grow up to be deejays. I think they are out of Minneapolis but I'm not sure. That's what I've found out so far.

Anywho, the billboard is an ad campaign that is running in various cities (Minneapolis, Vegas, SA, Wichita to name a few) that feature childhood pics of local DJ's. It generates controversy because people think its rude. People start calling in about it, listening to the radio, etc... Marketing 101.

It's for the import/ricer crowd. Should have seen it when I first got the car. Coming down I-295 in Jersey...some riced out civic and I got into a race(I started it by goofin' around)...I pulled ever so slightly and he was pissed... :lol: If he didn't have that goofy wing and ground effects kit...he would have whip'd me good..but that's how the games play'd. the tempo is a funny car though...runs good 30mpg in city drivin'...on 87 octane...I'll take it :D

Well, I might not have the tempo much longer. If Kate's Father(one of my friends in York PA) can find me a 2.5liter Dodge Caravan...I'll be getting that. Of course, it's the Force induction kind that runs low 13s with a few mods :D

I think it would be funny to beat up on an Fbody or Mustang with a minivan. :lol: The look on their face would be priceless
