What's the most horsepower y'all would trust a totally stock TPI setup to? I mean everything from base manifold to computer.

Depends... Naturally Aspirated or not? Running boost kinda does away w/ the airflow limitations TPI presents...

As for a bone stock, N/A TPI, I don't don't have an exact number, but I think whatever it is, would suprise alot of people.

Although my base is home ported, my runners and Throttle body are stock, and my time is in my sig..

Hey Kenny, you're local to me! Welcome to the group. Check out the local club at http://www.sc3g.org/ if you havent already.

I made 282 HP and 380 TQ to the rear wheels with a ported stock TPI intake, L98 heads, a ZZ4 cam, and SLP 1 5/8" headers. It ran a best of 13.23 @ 107.18 MPH. With some clever porting known as the siamese-job, you can make a stock TPI intake perform very well. I wish I would have done it before I put my current engine together, who knows how much power it would have.

The stock TPI setup is pretty limited. The whole system is restrictive to begin with, and I am almost possitive that the stock computer cannot take more than 218 duration without going crazy. Pretty much if you go with a big cam you are going to have to upgrade the chip, along with the manifold, runners, etc. The list is endless-I have learned this the hard way. It really depends on the cam that you go with......I am still learning on this, so I can't give you all the details just yet.............

Thanks for the replies. The motor is an all-forged 383 with DartII Sportsman heads which have been extremely ported. The motor is eventually going to be turbocharged and I expect 600+ hp to be my eventual goal. However, that is with the right cam and what not. Currently it has a '97 silverado cam to keep things on the down low. I have a TPI setup lying around and wanted to utilize it, but I feel it just won't be adequate. For now I'm just going to run the motor naturally aspirated with a Performer RPM and a carter carb and upgrade from there. SEFI is likely down the road. BTW, its goin in a first gen. Thanks for the info.

Well since you seem to have time to do it, it might be worth a try. The TPI setup excells at low end torque and can be very effective up high with a good port job (siamese it!) Since you have that silverado cam it might worth your while as I'm sure you're making plenty of power down low http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif.

Oh ok, I thought you had a thirdgen since you were asking about TPI setups. Check out the local all-gen f-body club at http://www.socal-fbodies.org/ We've got some very nice first gens in the group as well.
