Anyone have any experience with this convertor?
I think it should be a good fit for the mods and power level I'm at.

SLP 2400 Stall ConvertorCanIroc 07-30-2003, 08:56 PM Anyone have any experience with this convertor? I think it should be a good fit for the mods and power level I'm at. Bob speedmiser 07-31-2003, 08:34 AM Had one come apart on a heads/cam/spray car and trash my 700r4.:( Chris'SS #2152 07-31-2003, 04:32 PM Plus I'd go at least 2800 min.(3200 ideal) w/ lock up converter CanIroc 07-31-2003, 08:36 PM I have tried a Vig 2800 in it 2 years ago. It was too much stall for a stock heads and cam L98. It would actually flash at about 3200. With the L98 only making decent power until about 4800 it was wasting too much of the low end. I am keeping the stock heads and cam but have upgraded to 1.6 RR's and have run in the high 13's with this combo. And no I won't be spraying either. Bob faded93bird 07-31-2003, 11:46 PM that 2400 should be perfect for your L98's low end torque a friend of mine ran a 2200 in his 89 and went 13.0 at 104 with a stock long block and 3.23's and 1.80 60ft times Raptor1 08-01-2003, 07:05 AM Originally posted by speedmiser Had one come apart on a heads/cam/spray car and trash my 700r4.:( They weren't made to be sprayed  CanIroc: I had one. You can see my mods and times in sig. They were with the SLP 2400. I needed more stall for my cam so I bought a Vig. No new times with it yet. But the SLP worked good for what it was. It would flash to about 2700 with my combo. speedmiser 08-01-2003, 08:46 AM Originally posted by Raptor1 They weren't made to be sprayed  Apparently... No need to be an ass about it though. The guy asked for experiences and I told him mine. I bought the SLP converter 7 years ago, when I was near stock . Over the course of time, I pushed it harder than I should have - sometimes when you're on a tight budget you end up doing things like that. Sometimes it stays together - other times it goes boom... ;) 96redformula7 08-01-2003, 11:31 AM I can not tell you wether the slp stall are any god or not, but what I can tell you is that I have a vigilante 2800 that is damn awsome. If you do some research you will find that slp stalls have really bad reviews on them! Chris'SS #2152 08-01-2003, 12:56 PM You can always have PI adjust the stall speed to your car and if you upgrade later down the road you can have them change the stall for you. Just a thought. PS, didn't see you were L98. CanIroc 08-01-2003, 03:37 PM That's cool, all comments are welcome. There will be no sprayin or heads and cam package either for quite a long time. Just lookin for a little better times at the strip. Bob Antz97ZNJ 08-01-2003, 04:48 PM i had it , was extrememly mild...you'll want way more...dont go less then 2800..i know that slp stall is cheap but you pay what u get for CanIroc 08-01-2003, 07:42 PM When you say you had it do you mean you had it in an LT1/LS1 car or an L98 car. I know a 2800 is a minimum you want with the LT1/LS1 cars, since they actually make power to 6000. The L98 is done by 4800. As mentioned above I did try a Vig2800 and it was too much stall for that car. It flashed to 3200 and put me too far up into the powerband. The power band on the TPI's is more like 2500-4800. Bob | ||
