Just wondering if anybody has any opinions on power and sound of stock 2000+ SLP SS and WS6 exhausts for a LT1. I know a place that sells complete take-off cat-backs for 99 bucks. I have a 94 Formula running stock exhaust and hoping i found a deal...

Just my two cents, but I don't think it would be worth doing.

Actually, the WS6/SS exhaust is a much better flowing system than the Z28/TA/Formula stock system. I bought my SS take-off exhaust from SLP back in '98 when they were selling them for $99 as well.

I went with the SS exhaust for 2 reasons. Over at www.ls1.com (http://www.ls1.com) someone dynoed their stock SS and then installed a Borla and re-dynoed. They only picked up 1 RWHP with the Borla over the stock SS exhaust. $600 (at the time) for a Borla vs. $99 for the SS exhaust was no brainer for me. So reason #1 was the price was right, and reason #2 was that it flowed almost as well as the Borla, but still much better than my stock system.

When I took the WS6 exhaust off and installed the B&B TriFlo there was only a 2hp diff.

It's sounds a helluva lot better now, but I'm fairly sure I saw ZERO gain in power with my Flowmaster 80 Series over the WS6's stock exhaust. Of couse, I wasn't expecting any... just wanted that Flowmaster sound.

I have to admit, I was VERY surprised by the sound of my car when I purchased it. Throaty, but not too loud. I'm beginning to wonder if a catback would even be worth the money? (as far as rwhp goes)

I ran a WS6 exhaust on my 98 for a long time and loved it, sounded great with the headers and offroad pipe too.
