Starting problem.

Ok, 3 weeks ago, my car wasnt starting too good. It would turn over real slow, then a lil faster then a lil faster........so on....and then finally start. Well, I figured my altenator was bad, so I replaced it, and it worked. Everything was back to normal. Then yesterday, and started doing it again. And today it got even worse. Ok so lets eliminate the possibilities.

1. I have a brand new battery(forgot to mention that)
2. New Altenator(actually a rebuilt one from O'reilly's.
3. I dont think it's the starter, cause like I said, after the new altenater, everything was back to normal.

So what's the deal?

Sounds like the starter is going to me, I would keep a hammer in your back seat just incase you need to give it a little pursuasion when it decides to stop working on its own.

I have a 88 Camaro with a 305 TBI, and my Stater just recently went. Only it would just click everytime I turned the key, and then after a few tries, would start up. But yeah, keep the hammer like he said and if it won't start, give it a few whacks.

Sometime starters act funny they will work fine than give you trouble than work fine again I would go with the starter

Yeah starter, is where I'd go...Is it worse when it's hot?? like it's been running and the engine is warm, you turn it off and let sit for like 5-10 min. and then it's hard to start, classic starter symptoms.

Yeah, usually happens when you have headers but, I had mine jet hot coated and never had starter problems :knocks on wood:

My car would do it in completely stock form...with a stock thermostat and fan switch, If I cooled it down it would probably help.

Sounds like the starter. I have never had a problem with mine even when I had headers and a stock starter. Since I had my 383, I have used the gear reduction starter that you get in the Chevy catalog of go fast parts.
