OK I got my Microfiber in, now what can I do with it?

I got the "elite" microfiber, a whole bunch of it... 10 or so towels and a wash mitt too.

So obviously I should use the mit for washing, and I know I can use microfiber for taking wax off and cleaning my dash. But beyond that, I'm not sure. What car detailing-related tasks should I use microfiber for, and which tasks will it make no difference?

Great for Z6 quick detailing too. Won't scratch. I had to use it this morning on bird poopie.

And the waffles make cool bath towels.

I just ordered some Elite MF's too. I tried them out on my black 9300 mile IROC. They seem to be kind to the finish. But under the flourescent lights in my garage I left a couple of scratches in the finish. I think that may from the stitched edge of the towel.

Time for more Z5.

Well my verdict is in!

MF towels do have their advantages, but on black cars with nice finishes they do leave some scratches. They are minor, but they are there. On any other color but black....they'd probably be great, but I'm back to 100% cotton for my black cars.

Are you sure that it is just the stitching?

No, but it can't hurt. I just put 5 coats of ZFX/Z2 on my dark red truck with MF. Not a single swirlie or scratch, even under close examination. Maybe you got a bad one???

BTW: Keep your eyes open. Sal Zaino may have a solution in the future... OOPS! :eek: ;)

OK. I Z5'd my black daily driver and used the Elite MF's. The MFs really do have some advantages over cotton. They don't leave any lint and they really pull off product efficiently off your paint. I am abit less picky on the finish of this car than I am about my black "garage queen"....so for the purposes of my daily driver, the MFs worked fine.

Now what's going to be so new about these Zaino MF's??

I primarily use my MF towels for buffing out wax or polish residue. I also use them for QDing the car. For both situations I much prefer MF over cotton for these tasks. So far, I have not noticed a single swirl or marr from using the MF, and I am extremely observant when it comes to things like that. Not saying it can't happen, but it hasn't happened to me at least. :) One reason I went with the Elite from MFTech was they pay closer attention to quality control than many.

I save my Elites for paint work and use inferior MF for grunt work, although obviously you can use it for whatever task you like. I use other MF for glass cleaning, dash cleaning, etc.... You should be very surprised to see how well a MF can clean glass, even without a glass cleaner helping out. Just lightly dampen the MF with water and clean the glass. Should leave a very clean surface, although for tougher grime a cleaner may be needed. For most purposes the MF by itself will clean the glass without other chemicals.

If you have a wash mitt, you might try washing with it. I do not have a MF wash mitt yet, so I really can't say one way or the other about them. The only cotton items use on my car now are the wash mitt and polish applicators. If I find a suitable MF mitt, I will likely start using that too, but I'm kinda picky about my wash mitts!

I use the MFT wash mitt, and it's great because it gets into those tiny areas. Soaks up a LOT of water though, so I have to wring it out a bit or I use the whole bucket on one fender.
