Mine used to 1/2 way in the pedal travel and since it stuck to the floor and went up in smoke it doesn't engage until the pedal is 3/4 of the way up. Also is hard to get even a chirp into second. I can still scratch third though.

Could be starting to wear, as the clutch pad gets thinner it moves out on the pedal.

I dont know what you mean by stuck to the floor but from what you are saying your clutch is still in good shape but you may have some hot spots on your flywheel... a clutch works same as brakes only it moves the car insted of stops it. if you smoked it it could have hot spots never the less you still will have to take it apart to get to it. however don't take my word on it I cannot be sure without driving it myself.

this statement is correct only I dont think it is too bad usually when your clutch goes out it is almost to the top or release of the clutch...;)

I said starting to "wear" not go out...on my LT1 car it is at the TOP of the pedal and I mean top. It fully engages and there is about 1/8th of an inch left if that...its so small I can barely feel it. It still sticks...as for the clutch not letting you scratch second I read an article in CHP several years ago that talked about this with the LS1 cars. There is a point in the line from the slave cylinder where it is smaller than normal and under WOT that fluid doesn't have enough time to fully engage/disengage, from launch to the 1-2 shift...but the 2-3 shift and 3-4 shift have enough of a gap that it works fine...I wish I could find that article...

Mine is about 1/2 way up, but it moves a little from time to time. I drove a '97 Firehawk last weekend that engaged all the way at the top. This is best for quick shifts, but took me a minute to get used to.
