Yes I love how they compare the 1996 Impala SS to the Tahoe SS concept....why, just because it has 4 doors?

While these trucks aren't bad lookers the goodies that come with them are nothing to get excited about. Try harder next time boys.

I'll take 14 of the regular cab Silverado SS.

Yeah, and the Trailblazer SS deserves to be compared to the 67 Chevelle SS 396 because the similar size, weight and power output.

Yup... Uhhuh... Sure...

They all look nice, IMO. I have no idea where they get the estimated prices, but if a nicely equipped Tahoe w/5.3 already costs 37K+ today, how on earth would GM be selling the SS for 37.5K?

I see nothing to complain about here...fast SUVs and Trucks, DARN! When I have my family some day, I sure wouldn't want to be driving around a 6 second Tahoe SS when I could have an 8 second Lincoln Aviator....:p

I'd just take one, but not for $37,500! I thought they were gonna make that thing a stripper with just go fast goodies on it and sell it in the mid-20's range?

Its a step in the right direction.. I hoep they continue to improve these vehicles to be even faster and better inside..

Wouldnt hurt to have some cars too..

I have to give credit to the SUV SS's,They have a nice blend of power and extras.
The Siverado is a bit behind. The whole package doesnt seem like something that would make it to production.

OK - I give up...
Chevy has the best trucks, hands down.
I have never seen ANYBODY drive a Ford from Cuba to Florida...
but Chevy did it... See HERE. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/030724/170/4s4p6.html&e=1)

Of course nobody said if it was an SS or not, but I'm sure this will spawn a whole new line of SUVs regardless...;)

BTW - this is the #1 most viewed image on yahoo for the day.

I have to admit that I really like the looks and stance of the Tahoe SS. It definitely harkens to the likes of the 454SS and the dark-colored Impy SS's.

I guess my confusion is why the Tahoe and Trailblazer both get the same engine/power ratings, when one is obviously smaller and lighter than the other. I'd think the Trailblazer would be the odds-on favorite in any performance matchup, and at $5-grand LESS to boot!

 to GM for putting some wild numbers together for these vehicles, in both performance and cost. $32k for that Trailblazer is a feat...
which leaves me wondering why people would bother to spend $35k to $55k for cars that won't run as fast as these in a straight line...

I like these concepts. Trailblazer and Tahoe are nice. Silverado is more what was shown earlier with regards to a Lightning fighter.

What i really like is the performance estimates. Low 6's to 60 is not dominating in todays world but it's nice to know you can drive a truck or SUV will some balls to it.

I also don't understand how the stripper 2WD short cab would cost almost as much as a loaded AWD ext. cab.

maybe it's a typo and it should have been $27,500, that sounds more correct.

I really like the looks of all those trucks and I think the are the best looking suv's. I really like the Trailblazer SS. I bet it would be pretty fast with that 6.0 in it but if I got it, a blower would make its way under the hood.

these trucks were on the Hot Rod Power Tour. I've got video of them going through the rain in Texas :) Along with them were the GXP Pontiacs, SSR, Cavalier Tuner, V8 S10 Xtreme crew cab dually, T56 90s impala SS, blown 3800 FWD impala SS and Monte Carlo.

Guess which vehicle Jon Moss was driving :D I'll give ya a hint, it's the one that he said probably won't go into production bcause the bodystyle is too old... ;)

Ok, I have to put in my 2 cents real quick....

First, for a while, Ford's fastest vehicle available to the public was a TRUCK (take a guess what it is... you see them everywhere. Obviously Ford knows the secret to making a fast truck and marketing it). Finally they stepped the Cobra up to it's level and gave it more HP to pass it's truck counterpart.

Second... no sport truck will EVER beat the Syclone and Typhoon combo. Those trucks were absolutely awesome. Not sure if any of you have been in one, but they felt so comfortable (especially the Typhoon and it's leather). Also plenty of power and AWD to get it going (syclone was like 0-60 in 4.5 secs, and Typhoon 5.0).

Your wrong,The L was always slower then the Cobra.

Wrong again,There is a big debate on the L/Syclone performance times (and im not going to feed fuel to the fire). But that will end once the new redesined L comes out...
Speaking of 0-60 times the AWD had everything to do with that,But when u look at 0-60 vs. 1/4 mile it doesnt add up does it.

I take it your quoting MM&FF?:)
They got 13.31 out of a Lightning in "GOOD" air.(Aug. 2001 issue)
The 2001 Cobra couple ran 13.34 in "BAD" air.(Sep. 2001 issue)
A prior issue they took a 2001 Cobra vert and it run 13.34 in "GOOD" air.;)
This was done with Evan Smith driving............................
