smog laws in LA

thinking of moving to lake charles louisiana in about a year and ineed to know their smop laws if there are any. any help would be appreciated

There are no smog laws in LA that I know of. Long tube headers are legal here.

Longtubes are technically illegal everywhere....its just that were there is no smog testing there's no way they can catch you and no enforcement mechanism. Just a point of clarification :D

I live in the sticks :) . I live about an hour away from New Orleans and Baton Rouge. He's right, LT are really not legal here because you're moving the cats-it's just easy to get away with more here.

do you even have to do a smog test and if so i am gussing there is no inspection. if you do have to test where is there site that has their gudlines etc... thanks for your info hotrodgirl

I'll be getting my first inspection since I've had my LT headers next month. Last year was the first year I've had someone look under my car-I'll probably put a smaller plate in the bola just to be safe. I've never had a smog test done. The inspector usually drives your car about 10 feet, checks the horn, signal lights, and reverse lights and takes a quick look under the hood. You might be able to find some specific stuff in the LA DMV site. If you do move to LA, you'll see a lot of cars and wonder how they have tags! I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

Yo 98 PURPLEHAZE of you got a problem with anything like that I know a few places that you could go to that would never even look under your car. :)

cerwin vega fan youre in lake charles right? i might just take you up on that. may be beying a house there in about a year. anybody in LA have a stage 2 heads/cam and been able to pass emissions. that is what i want to do with my car withen the next couple of years.

Yeah you could pass with that no problem. The laws around here are real relaxed.
