Zaino Party (Advice Requsted)

Hey Mike, Carl, and you other Zaino nuts. There's a new group called SCFBA - Sun Coast F-Body Association. It's a Tampa, FL based f-bod club. Well, a bunch of the members have seen the results, and are skeptical as hell, so I'm throwing a detailing party. I'm gonna order a full kit and do it the ZFX way (since a bunch of them complain about it being soooo hard).

Well, in the group are 3 black Firehawks. I know black's tricky. What do you recommend to make them perfect? What is that 3M SMR? Where do I get it and how do I use it? If I could rid them of swirl marks and Zaino em all up we'd have a happy club, and the best looking group of f-bodies a club could ask for.

I also just got my new MF detailing towels, but I don't think my lone kit will be enough for 6-10 cars worth of detailing. (oh, my poor waffle towel! :D ) Or will they?

And I've never used ZFX before. Tips on making it look like I know what I'm doing? :D

Now, one gal in the group used Zaino on her black SS for a couple years, and claims it caused oxidization on her hood. I've heard a few isolated complaints about that, but my red truck is still perfect under the Florida sun. Anyone else heard about this?

You are going to want ALOT of cotton towels and mitts on hand. Our club holds a couple of these a year. Extra clay bars aren't a bad idea either. Make sure you have plenty of everything to go around. I'm usually the floater who goes around with each person as necessary to help show them how to do it right. Having a few experienced Zaino users to help everybody is also a good idea. If you are also going to be trying to buff out swirls on some cars the same day, it could be a VERY long day.

Zaino can NOT in any way shape of form cause damage to the paint or oxidation, in fact, it will protect better than anything else out there. If the clear coat started oxidizing they were NOT taking care of their car.

Thanks Mike. I might just order another pack of Microfiber towels. Luckily I can wring the waffles out and they seem to dry a couple cars with little problems. I will try to come up with a big pile of soft-enough cotton ones for drying.

As for removing polish, I should be able to do it with just a few microfibers, since we'll be using the new Z2 and ZFX, so there won't be thick layers.

And I'm the only experienced Zaino user in the group. Only one other person used it, but long ago. So I'm going to demonstrate on my truck, then float around and help everyone out. Gonna have to make sure I have about 10 applicator pads!

Only one car has swirl problems. The black '02 SS in the group has a few small scratches and some swirlies. Might require extra attention. Luckily, one member of the group has a 6-car shaded & smooth concreted open air garage with fans and lights, so we'll be partying like crazy.

And I have one claybar open, one sealed, and I'm ordering 2 more. Plus, some of the members are bringing their own supply, so they'll be more claybars. Should be a wild time. Thanks Mike.

Error - BADRAP, if the SS was done by SLP the oxidation was there already, I know three people that had to have their hood and spoiler repainted on their new cars.

I just talked to the people in the group with SLP cars (2 Hawks, 2 SS's). One Hawk needs repainting (hood) and the other already got sprayed at the cost of SLP. One SS oxidized, and the other is brand new, and hasn't yet.

Guess it's common. All 4 are black.
