BLACK00Z28 08-08-2002, 08:39 PM Does anyone out there have the SLP Loudmouth system? I am interested in getting it but wondering how loud it is since there is no muffler only a resonator. Is it obnoxiously loud? Am I going to get pulled over by every cop that I see? Does it drone? I want it to sound loud but not a$$hole-piss-off- the-neighbors loud.

ratio411 08-08-2002, 08:45 PM I don't have a LM, but alot of folks do. Some love it, some hate it. I've seen alot of LM owners complain about the headsplitting 'drone' inside the car at cruising speeds. Just something more you might want to inquire about...

96SFLZ 08-08-2002, 09:16 PM The only time I've heard the LM was on a '00 SS with SLP LTs and an off-road y-pipe. IMO, it sounded really good but it was way too loud. I do plan on getting headers and a Y eventually so that's one reason I decided to go with the Corsa and not the LM.

SSRox 08-08-2002, 10:40 PM Definitely LOUD!! I don't have one but I know someone who does on a 2002 SS. It sounds really nice from the outside, he says there is no big interior drone but considering he keeps his custom stereo cranked at about a thousand decibels I'm not so sure he knows what interior drone means. I like it personally but wouldn't get one as he has already had to appear in court for "noise disturbance". There is no doubt about whether or not he's in the area. I don't think the tips are so great looking. But if you want loud and don't mind being pulled over frequently, depending on the mood of your local police, go for it! I am looking to get a Corsa but a little short of funds right now. Ah well, something to look forward to. . .

99Z28RS 08-08-2002, 11:29 PM I originally had an 80 series flowmaster on my 99 Z and it wasnt loud enough, so i bought the loudmouth and for the money I couldnt be more happy, it makes the LS1 sound like its supposed to, its awsome when you get on it and its docile at low rpms, so its loud yes but its not ticket me now straight headers on a 454 loud =)

MonteSS427 08-09-2002, 03:23 AM A lot of people have talked about this before. Try a search and I bet you will come up with a lot of posts and links about the SLP LM.
96fbirdA4 08-09-2002, 08:29 AM I say go for it. The price is right, but you get what you pay for. It sounds absolutely awesome at WOT, but having an A4 I do get some drone at highway speeds. After having it on my car for 6 months though it doesn't bother me one bit anymore. You really get used to it.
As for cops, they don't even give me a second glance. As long as you aren't getting on the gas with them right behind you then you'll be fine.

rick93z28 08-09-2002, 12:19 PM I lined my trunk with noise deadening material to kill the drone. Now it's barely there. Car sounds really good cruising around town. It sounds more like an LT1 now http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

02CamaroZ28 08-09-2002, 08:42 PM Ive had my LM for a few months now, I feel its the best exhaust for what you pay. A cat-back exhaust should not cost you over 300 bucks, if it does kind of makes me wonder where your money is going. Its made of stainless so it wont rust. Took me and hour to install, all you need is to rent a saws-all to cut old exhaust off on either side of your rear end. As for the cop situation, I got pulled over more with stock exhaust than I did with LM. Also im partial to the dual tips, they shine nice and look great. Good luck.

wilbs600 08-09-2002, 09:00 PM Is the loudmouth legal in New York and what about the GMMG.
BLACK00Z28 08-10-2002, 07:57 AM SLP says they're 50-state legal, hence the name SLP- Street Legal Performance

ratio411 08-10-2002, 12:07 PM Ummmmmmm... Not everything SLP sells is "street legal", far from it.
It's headers for example are illegal for use on the street in the entire country. Federal law says that you cannot relocate or customize your cats in any way... this header does this. The redeeming factor is that only a few places in the country bother to check.
The LM would not break any exhaust emissions laws, but it will vary from place to place if it breaks sound emission laws, those are local and sometimes even left to the judgement call of the induvidual law enforcement officer.
You have a general feel of your local cops, you should know if you would get away with it or not.

SHAWNZSS 08-10-2002, 11:02 PM I love my Loudmouth, and everyone always is complementing the mean, deep sound. I just don't care for the single 3.5 inch tips it came with.
