Should I get 3.73's with my converter
I came across a good deal for some 3.73 gears. I currently have 3.23's and a Yank ST3200 with a 2.2 str. The gears and the install will be a little over $300. I think that is a good deal, but how will they be with my converter? Some guys are saying that you will only gain a .05-.1 in the quater mile from the gears with that stall. Traction would be an issue, but the acceleration should be sweet. Will the 3.73's help from a 30-35 mph roll? What other mod for around $350 would be worth doing? Any input is appreciated.

Considering you can get everything done for the a little over $300, it may be worth doing it. I can vouch that you'll gain very little w/ the gear swap with stock internals. I picked up a whopping .02 in the 60' with the 3.73's over my 3.23's. When you're running an aftermarket converter and stock internals, you stand to gain very little with a gear swap. If it were me, I'd just stick with the 3.23's for now. I lost 2.5 MPG on the highway after swapping to the 3.73's. As you mentioned, traction will DEFINITELY be an issue after the gear swap. It will be fun from a roll, but you'll run into problems from a light, even with the 3,200 stall. I know that traction was a big issue w/ the 3.73's and Vig 3200. I couldn't consistently hook anymore with that combo on ET Streets! The Hoosier slicks work well, though. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif
