I just lost two rear Bose speakers to age. :( The edges ripped and they would bottom out upon hitting. So I borrowed a friends sub. Disconnected both the rear 6 1/2s, and left the rear sub in place.
I hooked a 10inch sub up to see if the stock Bose system would power it. The answer. YEP. Not a ton louder..but much deeper and added a whole new level to the system. Im installing another Amp to power the sub ..but for now it sounds great. BTW I have a 600rms sub hooked up... Im sure one of those cheap 150rms subs would sound great!
Placement:
On the rear deck facing glass.. Mids were good..no deep bass..pretty quiet
On the rear deck facing front of car.. Mids still good..deep hitting bass..still quiet.
In the T-Top holder facing backwards w/ Cover closed.
Deep Bass...little mids...Definately louder. Sounds like there is a sub in the car. ;) hehe.
Im going to disconnect the rear bose sub and see if more power is directed to the 10 or not. Ill let you know. :)
Just wanted to pass that along.
