Just wondering what you need to change to prevent an A4 car from downshifting when on the dyno. I have a friend who will be doing some tuning soon and i would like to give hin the heads up with his program. Just don't want the tranny to down shift when going WOT. Thanks

Bill

No one does anything special to the Tranny tables when dynoing to keep it in 3rd gear when going WOT at like 2K Rpm?

What I do, is put the car in D, not OD , just D. Run the car up real slow and normal. Once you get in the final gear, you should be able to feel it, if you know your car, then run the car up to about 2800-3000 rpm's. Just gentle, no need to get on it just yet. When you get to the desired rpm, look at the dyno guy, he will point at you, then give it hell. If it does drop into the passing gear, just start over and run the rpm's up a little higher, then mash it. If this fails ask the dyno tech there. Chances are your wont be the first car they have done. Let us know what it puts down.

Yes, there is a really easy way to do it.
Tables I mention are TunerCat tables, not sure about LT1 Edit tables...maybe someone else can help there.
Go into the Normal Mode table and at every TPS setting, change your 1-2 shift point to 10mph and the 2-1 to 5mph. Then change the 2-3 to 15mph and the 3-2 to 10mph. This way when you first put the car in gear the dyno operator can let the car accelerate to 20mph and the car will be locked into 3rd gear.
Now, in order to keep it in 3rd gear at wot you need to go in and modify the kickdown mode up down shift points to the same mph values. Also do the same with the hot kickdown mode shift points.
You are now locked in 3rd gear. :)
