Okay, so this is my first time with a big converter in the car. Its neal racing 3400 stalled converter. My first impression on it....well it felt kind of weird with it slipping the way it does butr I'll get used to that. What my main concern is when I hit 45-50 mph and the tranny starts to shift into overdrive it starts to surge meaning it revs up and down until I come to a steady speed. On the highway its not that bad but when in town it does this quite often. Do you guys usuelly just leav the car in (d) until you reach highway speeds?. This is also a brand new tranny that has been proffisionally built.

I usually leave it in "D" until I hit 50 mph. If don't & am cruising in a 45mph zone I get that OD then D thing happening to me. Not a biggie.....

Cool....as long as Im not the only one the it happens too. Is there a way you can adjust that so od wont kick in till about 50mph or are we pretty much stck with it?

I have found through programing I can get the TC to "feel" much more suitable.

With my Yank 3,800 I have OD set at 50MPH and lock up at 40 with a 36 release. in third. Raising the 1-2 and 2-3 shift points also take away a great deal of the "Slip" feeling ;)

Good luck!

yeah, custom programming will help out a bunch. and yes, you will get used to the "slipping". have fun.

the shaking at those speeds is your converter locking up and it is normal. u wouldnt even feel it if u didnt have a cam, but since u do, u are getting "cam surge". get some custom tuning program(LT1edit) and bump your lockup up to around 60 mph and u will be fine. i just had this problem myself.
