EDIT : beer and food included
If absolutly necessary I have access to tools and space at my folks place.
Name the place and time, and I'll be happy to come along and help with the install, and can bring a spring compressor and ballancer remover.
I trust you have gaskets (carb, intake manifold, water pump, t-stat...), assembly lube, oil, filter and silicone?
Zedzag 07-05-2003, 01:23 AM If I'm not too busy with mine, I can give a hand as well.
CoryM 07-05-2003, 01:28 AM What kinda carb? Remember that you have to plan your fuel system for the new carb. As well as any vacuum lines you need. I would be happy to help. I dont have anywhere to do it though and I am going to be VERY busy with work for the next week or two. Let me know what date you guys plan. Gonna degree your cam? What spec cam? Did the springs come with the cam?

talos 07-06-2003, 12:06 AM Ok well considering that the weekend of the 12/13th is outta the question as the CCC is that weekend, i would love to get this done on the day of the 19th hell even if i could get it done that friday the 11th that would be super...
reply with ur ideas and suggestions plz
Zedzag 07-06-2003, 01:00 AM I pretty busy for the next two weekends. Best to setup a time with the person whose house you're doing it at and go from there.
Timing chain cover , waterpump , carb to manifold and valve cover gaskets. Coolant.Do you have these as well? Will your stamped steel rockers work with your new springs? Sometimes you need long slot rockers. What is the outside diameter of your springs..I couldn't find the info. If they are larger diameter than stock, then you have to pull the heads for machining. Like Cory said, will all your linkage, fuel and vaccum lines work with the holley. What model holley is it? Many things that could stop you mid way.
CoryM 07-06-2003, 01:04 PM The springs will be fine. Stock OD. They are a slightly weaker version of the Z28 spring (good cause you still have press in studs :yuck: ) . The throttle cable may need a holley bracket, depends on what carb. You gonna degree the cam? If so youll need a degree wheel. So far the 19th works for me.... but it kind of depends on if Eric can manage that. I suppose if all else fails we can do it here, but we will have to see in a few weeks. May be best as I have air. Also buy some brake clean for cleaning the sealing surfaces. And make sure you have some clean rags. You want this to be a one day event. Plan it out, think about what order you disassemble/reassemble and make sure you have all you need.
Anyhow, Id better go get the heads back on my camaro.

talos 07-06-2003, 08:10 PM accually i talked to erik at surrey place the other day, and he told me that the weekend after next is best for him, and its good for me, so the 19th is it.
like i said in the tech forums i believe the carb is a 4150 series, if i need to get these odd and ends i can always jump in a car with one of u guys and run down to lordco or something and pick them up no biggie, but ill get the things i need like the gaskets and crap before.
umm ya i know nothing about degreeing and what not... so don't ask me  :(
talos 07-07-2003, 09:18 PM lol seems russ gave me the wrong intake! good thing i haven't installed it yet :p he showed me the one im gettin and its huge! :D
i have the pre-lube and ill get the water, and timing cover gasket at lordco or something..
and as for my carb, im getting it pulled apart cleaned and rebuilt and ill be running it with out the choke, as that screw that was broken of in that port is there for a reason :p

You mean it's even bigger than the one you've got? I told you before...nice SPREADBORE intake. You should have a SQUAREBORE one. If you get another one that is taller than the one in your pictures you're making a mistake IMO. A bigger intake +that cam+your current heads=totally mismatched combo. It will be a total dog.
talos 07-08-2003, 02:11 AM the one i have is a spreadbore intake thats a reproduction of the performer intake, the one i was to get is a SQUAREBORE reproduction of the "performer RPM" which is a much nicer intake then the one in the photo, ill repost tomorrow with a new photo
talos 07-08-2003, 06:47 PM yippy got my new intake today, i also picked up a rebuild/trickit, for my carb
here is a side by side photo of my old and new intake (http://www.members.shaw.ca/nathanengler/newintake.jpg)
