Need help choosing turbo kits

I know there are a couple. Some have come and gone. Some are new and improved. Out of all the turbo kits presently out there, can someone list the ones they are familiar with so I can go to that website and pick from your suggestions. I too will drop the blower for a turbo.

My brain is smoking looking for options.

The only two production kits are the PTK and the turbotech. I would go with the PTK!

As of now you would have to revert back to stock manifolds with the STS kit and if you want to run anything but a minimal amount of boost, it is recommended that you also set up a water/alky injection kit.

The PTK kit comes with FMU, intercooler, wastegate, blah blah blah....all for the same price as the STS kit. Yes you do have to buy the head unit seperately but IMO that gives you quite a bit more range depending on what your goals are.

The STS kit isn't bad if you have a relatively stock car and wish to keep it that way but seeing from your sig (355 with 15psi via Vortech) I'm assuming that you want to upgrade your setup and not downgrade.

I'm looking at going with PTK for my winter buildup....and unless something bigger and better comes along between now and then, they are my first pick if I go the FI route.

1st choice proturbokits (http://www.proturbokits.com/gmkits.htm) seems to be the best kit

2nd choice turbo tech kit (http://www.turbotechnologyinc.com/lt1_camaro.htm) not really recommended, their lt1 kit has alot of probs


the sts kit is not finished testing yet, who knows how it will work at sea level. so its not really an option.

Like eveyone else has said, Proturbokits is probably your best bet(I haven't seen it so I can't really say, but others like it). I can tell you about the turbotech kit. It's got a lot of fitment issues. The crossover and downpipe contact the kmember at different points, which is a problem since the engine rocks. Then there is the issue of it not being an ideal race kit due to the log manifold, small downpipe, and crossover. Please don't go out and pay $4000 for a turbotech kit new, spend it on the proturbo kit, or buy a used kit. I'm glad I bought mine used(cheap). I'll probably sell it over the winter, and either build or buy a new kit.

I have the ProTurbo kit and it is working fine. Just little things here and there, but it was the first street system. It is very well designed and built, I think you would like it too. Ask for Greg and tell him Bernie sent you. www.proturbokits.com

I have never had a problem with my crossover contacting anything on my car. Actually its the best fitting part of the kit, but it could use a flex joint.

outcast, did you manage to get a 5psi pump gas dyno run?........im curious to see what power it puts down in a daily driving setup.
