Reverse opening hood like the vette?

Has anyone tried makeing a reverse opening hood like the vette for our cars? Im not quite sure what all would be involved but is it possible?

sounds like a good idea...I personally haven't seen a pic of it but i'm sure with the right amount of $$$ you could have one

Can anyone throw out an idea of how to fab one up?

The more I think about it, the more it defiantly will not work :think:

Give me a couple more months I'll be able to tell you exactly how to do it (First thing that's getting done after I get my car back from the bodyshop). But you will need a welder and atleast a super sawzall (a cutting wheel and torch would be preferable).

To do this you need to relocate the hood hinges, the hood locking latch, reroute the hood latch cable, remount where the hood lifts mount and probally a few clearence issues. More than likely, a stock METAL hood will have to be used. Repainting the engine bay and underside of the hood will need to be done also. Might as well forget using the underhood insulation thing (forgot what its called).

Buying a set of 'Vette hood hinges would probaly be a good idea too.

Can you tell me and a few friends have been pondering this for months now? :D If you don't have any body experience I would not even attempt this. Maintaining proper height and gap will be a P.I.T.A. but I think it's doable.

I forgot that you will need to relocate those hood supports that raise or lower the hood. (They are those things in each cornet right at the front of the engine bay at either side that's adjustable to et the proper height for the hodd when it's closed.)

You will also more than likely have to notch into the front radiator core support AND/OR wheelwells. Which of course would weaken the front structure of the car.

Moving the wiring from the driver's side that goes to the fron of the car would be a god idea too.

A new place for the fusebox wil probaly ahve to be done also.

Bracing for the new location of the hood latch will also have to be done. We were going to place it right in the center of the piece that goes from either side of the car at the back of the enigne bay. (I don't know what its called but you can't miss the thing if you open your hood.)

theres a company out there thats makes a kit for cars to have hood/trunks open the opisite way, my buddy has it on his blazer
however it will not open like a corvette does. it first pops up then comes up and over the nose. still is kinda cool but i think it should stay on the imports:D

i have seen it on a 3rd gen not on ours though. it was in a camaro performers magazine. it should be possible on ours but it isnt exactly like a corvette.
