Camaro Pricing. Good or Bad?

Im almost ready to buy a Camaro. I think I found the right one. Its a 1996 Camaro Z28. 129,000 Kms, Custom black paint job was done 3 years ago. I couldnt find a scratch on the car. Has T-Tops, Leather, Power Windows, Door Locks, Power Seat, Auto. The interior is the same as the outside. Spotless. Engine is very clean as well. The guy that is selling it is asking 16,900. I was planning on offering 15,000. Is that still to much for a car like this? The guy selling it is an older person. Probably around 40 years or older. Ive looked at a few others for a couple thousand left but none even compare to this one. No accidents with it either. Planning on getting BCAA to take a look at it to give it their inspection and see what it says. He took me for a drive in it and everything seemed good. Took his hands off the wheel and stepped on the breaks and it kept going straight.

Is 15,000 to much for a car like this or is it worth it? I've looked at about 10 Camaro's now and this is by far the nicest one I have seen. A few others are about 2000 less than this one but are not in very good shape.

Thanks for any advice.

That sounds about right since it's been re-painted and has no scratches. I would prefer a little lower mileage though. With that kind of mileage on a 6 or 7 year old car he probably drove it all year round.

There was 2 owners on the car. He said he rarely drove it in the winter however I cant tell if this is true or not. He said the paint job was about $3000.00. The km's work out to about 18,000 per year which I would say is average for most people. The good thing is I rarely put 10,000 km's per year on my car now so I wont be adding a lot to the total.

little much for an auto id say

he's asking way too much to begin with ......... so u dont have too much room to bargain ..

i dunno offer him 14.5 ... i paid 12 for mine 2.5 years ago when mine was just as old as this one is now .. mine had 98,000 ... no leather, but M6, 17" OZ wheels, eibach sprins, $600 alarm, stereo .. catback .. etc etc

id personally take an M6 over an A4 .. but thats upto u really...

Since when does a person pay extra for paint?
That is the sort of thing you expect a car to have, not something that you pay extra for - how much does he want extra based on that the car has wheels, tires and an engine?

New stuff on cars is a selling feature - not an extra.
If I put and ad in the local rag for my car, I would put down new tires. I wouldn't expect people to pay more for it because of that fact - every car has tires.

Sounds like he is attempting to recoup his cost back on the paint job.
That's not right.:blah:

i never knew that u could have a "custom" BLACK paint job unless it has flek or w/e... doesn't gain much... if any

even thats too much IMO

auto's are worthless in my books .. and the fact that it doesnt have hte original paint job actually LOWERS the value

make sure u run the VIN thru icbc and check for big accidents or salvage title !

even if it came up clean take it to a body shop and make sure there hasnt been any body repairs on it

Does anyone know someone by the name of PJ? He said he is a part of this forum and I took a look at his yesterday. Asking $14,000 for it. Is the car worth that. Its got a custom paint job as well. Its dark green with black racing stripes. Says it consistently does 13.2 in the 1/4 mile.
94 CHEVROLET Camaro Z28, low kms, T-tops, 6 spd, custom paint, chrome rims, stereo, headers, full exhaust, lowered, too much to list $14,000 negot

Has a K&N Air Filter, Edelbrock headers, had a custom exhaust as well.

If anyone knows this car let me know what you think.
