2000 Camaro keeps popping front left turn signal bulbs..

Fellow Camaro Owners,

I did some searching in the forum and was unable to find my specific issue, and I was wondering if anyone else had seen the problem. Few thousand miles ago I noticed that my left front TS stopped working...I picked up some new bulbs and wham..back in business....Well the next day that one was blown..then the anger set in...I replaced it again with the second bulb in the pack..figuring that maybe oil from my hands caused the last one to blow..nope I was wrong the next damn day this one had blown out to...the weird thing about it is it works when replaced, but only for a day or so...Any thoughts, or suggestions?

are you getting long life bulbs? if not try that

Short in the circuit somewhere?

Is the lens broken? If it lets water inside, it will create a short and blow your bulb.

I had that problem with driver side DRL on my Firebird and it never happened again after I got a whole new (used) assemble for it.

take out the whole assembly and look for cracks, i had one and they keep breaking whenevr water would get in there
i used a silicone glue to repare it

I am pretty sure that there is no crack in the assembly, but the thought did cross my mind...I will check it out. I was thinking that somebody else saw it or there was a TSB on it...I have seen a ton of 98-02 camaros with the left turn signal out..There is a ton of grease in that socket and I wonder if that is causing the short...something in the grease...Thanks for the help...

I have lost count of how many turn signal bulbs I have changed on both the Camaros. Even when I install the bulbs properly I sometimes notice moisture in the lens after the car has been washed. :think: I should try wrapping some electrical tape around the base of the bulb to prevent moisture from getting into the electrical connection.

That grease around the wires of the bulb is for conductance. Even if there is no crack, the lens and back part might not be sealed air tight.

Thanks..You guys are rad...It looks like everyone is leaning towards moisture...If I see anything of interest Ill let you know..

The turn signal housing is bone dry..no cracks..I did notice however that the bulb socket is is burned all the way around the bulb it looks..Like the heat from the light going out melted the plastic...Thats another thing..The filament in the bulb doesnt just burn up. but the whole bulb is white..looks like a damn 60 watt bulb...It seems like it is getting too much juice, but I figure that a fuse would blow first...This is so damn irritating...

Killerjello i count count how many 98-02 camars i have seen with one turn signal out...... the siverados are the same way, i seriously think it is a flaw somewhere that gm overlooked... because basically every other camaro or silverado i see on the road has that one bulb burned out.

Thats what i think..if there was GM wouldn't say anything anyways....Someone in here had to have the exact same problem as I am...
