Hey guys can yall tell me much about the differences in the 91 and 92 model Z28s? Is it worth saving the extra $$$ for a 92 model?

Thanks

The only difference between them is the 92 was the anniversary year and was also the last year for the thirdgens. Other then that they are the same.

Front grill between the driving lights was "Black "on all 91's . On 92's the grill is painted whatever color the car is . Here's my '92 Z http://www.gsfcc.com/images/CNApril/patriot.jpg

In 1992, GM made a major effort to tighten the f-body, with more welds, seam filler/caulking and so forth. The '92s are the quietest and tightest of the 3rd gen line.

Other than that, not much difference from the '91.

I appreciate the info.
I wonder if the tighter suspension can be modded on the 91 models? 91s are much more easier to find it seems and if there really isnt all that much of a difference then maybe it would be worth it?

Sure. The '91 is an excellent car, and you are right, there are a lot more of them around than '92's.

If you find a really nice '91 that strikes your fancy, get it. I really like the looks of the '91-'92 Z-28 and GTA's.

1992 CHEVROLET CAMARO, RS, B4C police pkg, 1LE brakes, 350 V8, auto/OD, 92K mi, fully loaded, green grey

$4300/cash

Thta's not a bad car actually, assuming it is what the guy says it is.

Under 100k too

I didn't see the fact it was a B4C.

The police-spec Camaros have all the good stuff. If it runs good and looks good, I'd seriously consider purchasing it.

Exactly. All the benefits of a Z-28 in an RS package. Plus the lower insurance that an RS gets over a Z-28.

I'm not exactly positive but pretty sure that they didn't make the b4c package available with a 350 motor in it, especially an rs. I had a friend who bought an old police car (which was in rs badging)and it had the 305 tpi where as most rs had the tbi setup. I would look into it a little more as something doesn't seem right. You can check on thirdgen.org as they have a lot of info. like that on their site. I would almost bet that it is a manual transmission and that would be a 305ci from the factory as there were no 350ci and manual trannys from GM made. Unless someone put a 350 in it afterwards.

Everything I have seen on the net says that the B4C has a 350 and auto with 3.23 gears...

I have seen different numbers about production numbers of B4Cs from 1992, but I am pretty sure the production number is 589. If the car is in good shape and seems to be running good (unless you like projects), definitely try to get someone down there to check it out. Seems like a great price, although it does not look mint.

Here is a description of the B4C cars from www.thirdgen.org

Q: What's included in the B4C police package?

A: It was an RS Camaro with air conditioning, Z-28 power train, 140 amp altenator and came with some (but not all) of the 1LE option package equipment. This included dual cats, special suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, posi-traction, special axle ratio, oil cooler, 16" aluminum wheels, 145 MPH speedometer, and 245/50ZR16 blackwall tires. In order to determine if it is a true B4C, look for the "B4C" code on the option label located inside the glove box.

Good luck!

Thanks Zrated for the help. If is has the 140 amp alternator, then that means it uses the cs-130 alternator casing (sorry, have forgotten part numbers) ?

James...well, she pretty much said "no" to anything with the slightest hint of speed. She doesn't want me in a fast car. She should know I am not stupid and really don't have the guts to do some of the stupid things she might be thinking I would do. She probably does, but just doesn't even want me to risk it until I'm an experienced driver. I watched a fellow classmate wrap (literally...) his VERY NICE 1989 350TPI IROC around a tree. Thank god he ended up OK.

Pictures can be seen here:

His story:

Yeah, smelling the car burn (I was 2 streets away), then seeing the accident in the paper made me think many times over about driving dangerously.

So, answer...I will probably be getting something in place of an IROC for probably a year or two :(. Oh well, I am hoping to get a 5spd Maxima or maybe a GTP if I can manage to skim that one by her ;)...

If it make syou feel any better I drove around in a 91 aerostar for a few years before I got into anything with balls *LOL* Be a safe driver for a while and your mom will realize you are responsible enough to have whatever car you like.

Pictures of what other people did weigh heavily for parents and wives. Pictures of some guy blowing the hatch off his MX6 are the reason the wife won't let me have juice (yet) LOL

Pictures like http://www.iroc-z.com/wreckedirocs/iroc12WRECK.jpg are gonna keep mom from letting you have a camaro for a long time LOL!!!!!

Oh speaking of pontiacs, the new GTO is being released soon.
I got the pre-order form spam today. 350HP LS1 *drool*
"Mom, uhm .. it's like your 91 grand am except its got twice as many cylinders" :)
