Which 3M product removes scratches and swirls the best????

Ive got some nasty swirls in my paint, most of which is all but brand new. I dont want to go Zaino because it takes so long to get stuff here and its so much $$$. This new paint just sux, it swirled up in no time. If you could, please give the product number of some stuff that will get rid of these scratches. Thanks in advance.

Zaino won't do much for surface prep, yet. http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif Zaino is the final coat after your finish is as perfect as possible. It sounds to me like you need a mild to moderate abrasive to restore the surface. I'd recommend you start with 3M #39009 or #39003 as they are lighter/medium abrasives. If you have a buffer, Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish is also excellent IMO. If, by chance, you need a compound, unlikely though, 3M Fine Cut is a good place to start.

yep, exactly what mike said. with 3m swirl mark remover, a buffer, and foam pad are preferred for optimal results. use light/medium pressure and it does a great job.

How fresh is that paint? It can take upto 90 days (usually about 30-45) for new paint to fully cure. Until it is, it is very susceptible to swirls and scratches. High quality mitts and careful wash techniques are required until it's fully cured.

I'd take a serious look at what you use to wash and dry it with so you don't end up with the same problem again.

If the paint is still fresh, avoid sealing it with a wax, Klasse or Zaino. It can prolong the cure, and in some cases damage the finish.

The polishes MikeLS has advised will be just fine on it, and Foxbat's suggestions will make the job go faster.

Absolutely! 3M products seem to work the best with buffers IMO. Their products are a thicker consistency than most and really benefit from the fast action of a machine to break them down into a finer polish. This is also why using 3M by hand is a bit tougher and time consuming. I feel Meguiar's makes one of the best prep product lines that can be used equally well by hand as with a buffer. 3M seems tailored for buffers, but can be done by hand with a lot of work and patience.

3M is all we use in the bodyshop. Use the glaze they make with a buffer, it will take care of most anything, and it is the ONLY thing we use on fresh paint. It is breathable for the fresh paint to still dry. Only downfall is it only lasts about a week or two. But it will take care of your swirls.

I actually have the glaze because my uncle works at a body shop and recommended it. Thats what he used on the paint and thats what I use now and there are still scratches. They just wont go away.
