Opinions on Z6'ing before Z2'ing

I know the instructions suggests a coat of Z6 spray before applying your next Z2/5 coat... my question is this:

Does this do anything besides make the Z2/5 apply easier? Does it make the gloss or durability any better?

Honestly, I usually skip the Z6'ing before I lay another coat of polish down to save time and effort... am I making a mistake by doing this? I really don't have any problem with the way the polish goes on without the Z6 before it.

Z-6ing before gives the paint more of a 3D look, you don't have to and is fine if you don't. I don't always either.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, like Kevin said.

One advantage it has, is that I have always been one to spread a little too much Z5/Z2 on the hood since that is the first place I start and need to work a little polish into the terry applicator.

Thus, when I wipe it off, I sometimes get minor streaking or a little polish residue. The Z6 helps take this right off http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

The rest of the car is fine, but if I Z6 the hood i do the rest.

Thanks Kevin, perhaps I will use it for the next few times then, and see if I notice a difference.... the new car is White, so I don't know how much I'll notice it, but it'll be fun trying! http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

I like to Z6 just before applying a fresh coat of Z, but I don't think it has anything to do with durability of the polishes (could be wrong though). The main thing I've noticed is that is makes the applicator glide like butter over the surface afterwards and makes getting really thin coats even easier. I mainly pre-Z6 the panels where it's harder to get a thinner coat like the hood, roof, etc...just makes things easier and quicker IMO. But, since it is a gloss enhancer, it will add more of a pop as well, especially when used after removing the Z.

For the reasons above and that it ensures a completely clean surface with no water spots or anything else I might seal in with a coat of Zaino, is the reson I always do it.

Also, FWIW, I always have a coat of Z-6 on my car anytime I am out in it, so I guess I polish over Z-6 all the time anyway. It will not have that dramatic a look on a white car like it does my black car. You can create 3D with black or dark blue, but not really with white.
