I had an unfortunate encounter with a swinging piece of chain yesterday, and have a few scratches on the fender. Can I compound them out, they arent too deep, I am not sure if they are in the clear coat or the base, but the look a little lighter in color than the rest of the paint. What can I use? They are not too visable, but I know there there and see them all of the time.

Thanks

You have several products you may wish to try. Meguiar's Scratch X, Eagle 1 Scratch Remover, or 3M SMR or Fine Cut Compound. Of these products, the FCC is the most aggressive and will deal with the most severe scratches. The rest are designed to remove swirls or scratches without causing more, but are less aggressive and may require sevreal applications before it looks perfect. Rub with moderate pressure against the direction of the scratch until it disappears. You may finish up buffing along the scratch. Apply a wax for protection and you're done.

I have some 3M prep-team light duty compound and glaze, will that work or is it gonna be too aggressive?
