Anyone have any suggustions on series, size, etc.? PaulN64 06-17-2003, 01:36 AM they are pretty decent tires for the price. I've got khumo ecsta supras on mine. Pretty good for street tires and awesome in wet weather. NiteRider 06-17-2003, 02:08 AM The tires are good, if you have 17's on go no smaller then 275 on a 40 series. robvas 06-17-2003, 11:27 AM 275/40 look and feel so much better Originally posted by ArcticYT95TA Why not smaller? I am running Kumho Ecsta Supras on the front, 245/45/17. SloMofo 06-17-2003, 04:33 PM I recommend the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires. I run them in 275/40/17 and pull 1.8 60's on em   WhoBetter? 06-17-2003, 05:03 PM They suck, 1. If you ever have to drive in the snow you will have zero traction 2. they have a low wear rating, this means the rubber is soft which will give you good dry and wet traction and this iswhy everyone likes them also because they're cheap, but they will only last 25,000 miles. A good tire will provide good tractiong with a superior tread design but will still be made of harder rubber to last 50,000 miles. 3. the tread looks like it belongs on a rice mobile I think you should look for cooper cobras, they look nice, the price is okay and they will last for up to 50.000 miles. If anyhing look for a good wear rating, atleast 350. It is worth spending an extra $30 a tire because the lasting quality will spare you the expense of mounting a new set after only 25,000 miles. StreamlineZ28 06-17-2003, 05:26 PM screw the cobras cooper has a better tire now but they are jsut manufacturing it so you might have to wait a week or two. they are cooper zeon 2XS go check there site they have them on there. they look sweet to and they are extrmely well priced. if your set on kumho get the kumho ecsta MX PaulN64 06-17-2003, 09:42 PM it all depnds, where does he live? If he lives where there's no snow, that won't matter:D Zack 06-18-2003, 01:35 AM Originally posted by WhoBetter? 3. the tread looks like it belongs on a rice mobile i like the tread pattern on my 711 and on the 712's. much better, sportier looking than the basic passenger tire style tread i see many other tires have SloMofo 06-18-2003, 10:19 AM Originally posted by WhoBetter? See my above post  As for your #3 what crack are you smoking? Now certain tread pattersn are rice? LMAO! No tire will give us great traction in snow. These are powerful cars we are driving not exactly made for the snow ;) PaulN64 06-18-2003, 11:08 AM Originally posted by SloMofo As for your #3 what crack are you smoking? LMAO!  Although  what constitues a rice pattern?? iamsparc 06-18-2003, 04:26 PM My boss has had these tires on his car for over a year now...over 40k miles and they are probably around 60%worn...that really isn't bad treadlife. (and he DRIVES his car...so it's not like these tires don't get used) -Mike lbrowne 06-18-2003, 04:41 PM I have Kumho 712s on my TA, 275/35/18. For the price they can't be beat. KY95Z28 06-18-2003, 07:40 PM I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra's 275/40/17 on my car. I have had them for about a year and no problems. The handle great, ride good, and are well priced. I would buy ten sets of these before I would buy another set of the Goodyear Eagle f1's that were on the car when I bought it. My tires have about 18k on them and you can hardly tell them from new, with the exception of the front tires as they do wear on the inner and outer tread pretty quickly, especially if your car is out of alignment. As far as the treadwear rating, I belive they rate a 280, which is quite fair for a z rated tire. Most rate much lower than this, I believe the Michelin Pilots Sports are only rated a 220 maybe for like triple the price. And also when did tread pattern become a judgment of what is or isn't rice..... thats crazy. I personally want an aggressive looking tread, not some minivan tire treadpattern. Marky82 06-18-2003, 08:08 PM I wouldn't call any pattern on a 275 rice.....ricers can't even come close to fitting that size. I have Kumho 275/40/17's and I love them so far DomesticViolence 06-18-2003, 11:00 PM i've got the 712s now. does anyone use the kumho MX? i would like to know how long they last and how good they work. ThotYouKnew 06-18-2003, 11:27 PM i am looking at buying 4 kumho ecsta 712s 245/50zr/16 and having them mounted and balanaced and free flat repair and balances for $450 from discount tire, Co. which is www.tires.com i could get them to my house from tirerack for 370 and then get them on for $10 a tire so i would be around 420 after taxes but then i have to worry about paying for rotation and a flat and stuff so i figure the 450 is worth it from the tires.com also..i hear they are good in the rain which is a plus, my goodyear eagle f1 gs tires were horrible in the rain and only lasted me 25,000 so i dont plan on going back to them... plus i should have a beater by winter that i can drive around.... Flat repairs(at my store) alone cost 12 bucks ThotYouKnew 06-18-2003, 11:54 PM yea i paid like 19.99 awhile back to get one repaired and i figured rotation isnt cheap so therefore it would be the way to go...they seem like good tires...my buddy had them on his 95 and he had headers, exhaust, intake, ignition and drove like a Jack*ss and his faired out pretty good....i mean whatelse is there to do when you are 17 and have v8 muscle....you gotta mess around somewhat...haha i know this...ill never be able to move down from this power...unless of course i cant afford it anymore WhoBetter? 06-19-2003, 06:26 PM The side walls look good but the tread just looks like those tires that ricers have on there 20 spoke wheels. Even though they are pretty cheap you can get a much better tire for the money. You can get copper cobras with a 50,000 mile gauretee, a tread wear of 380 and a much better tread design for not much more money. plus those kumos are nearly solid rubber so they are heavier and they don't dig into the pavement to give you good traction, they just use soft rubber. From what I've heard, soft tires, more traction less tire life...hard tires, less traction, more tire life:confused: WhoBetter? 06-19-2003, 06:39 PM Yeah, your right, but you see that's where the science comes to play, the objective is t design a tread that with use a stiffer rubber that lasts to provide good traction, and the kumhos don't have that technology, they just use a soft rubber and a simple solid tread to achive a balence between wear and grip, i'm saying that better tires will give superority in both fields. here's a good tire of whati'm talking about http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebrand=Falken&tiremodel=Ziex+ZE%2D502 DomesticViolence 06-19-2003, 08:11 PM Originally posted by WhoBetter? here's a good tire of whati'm talking about http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebrand=Falken&tiremodel=Ziex+ZE%2D502 that would be sweet on a 4-wheeler. :) SpeC 06-19-2003, 11:41 PM I've never heard of copper cobra tires...is there a link to their website? -SpeC ThotYouKnew 06-20-2003, 06:19 PM just got my 245/50zr/16's put on today for $450 which includes lifetime flat fix and rotation....kumho ecsta supra 712 they seem to be doing much better than my older tires but then again i got every damn penny out of them haha....had the warning bands poppin up.... i figure since they were the eagle f1 gs tires that i should get every penny out of them....damn expensive...only lasted like 25K...they actually feel a little heavier than my old tires but maybe that is because my old tires have been shot for awhile ...ha hopefully my braking improves when getting off the highway...:alert: | ||
