I just got back home from traveling over 4000 miles on the 2003 Hot Rod Power Tour (it was great to actually meet some of you in person) and guess what FINALLY shows up the day after I return home? My new iForged wheels! It sure would have been nice to have them last week but at least they are here after waiting for 18 weeks!

They are the 3pc version which allows more options in backspacing and wheel lip sizes. They were custom built top my specifications as I wanted the biggest smooth lip available on a lightweight forged wheel with staggered sizing, all while still fitting within the fenders of the car. The sizes are 18 x 9.5" front and 18 x 10.5" rear with a 2.5" lip on the front and a massive 3.5" lip on the rears. I looked into getting a 4" rear lip but I'm glad I didn't as I feel the 3.5" lip is pushing the limits of good taste. ;)

The front 18x9.5" wheels weigh 20lbs and the rear 18x10.5" wheels weigh only 21lbs so there really is not a weight penalty going from the stock 17" ZR1 wheels. After driving on some terrible roads down south compared to our Michigan roads (which are nothing to brag about) on the Power Tour I'm sure glad I didn't opt for 19" or 20" wheels as I honestly don't think a wheel in those sizes from any mfg. would have survived the trip.

The tires are the new Kumho Ecsta MX in 275/35/18 front and 295/35/18 rear tires. So far I'm very impressed with the tires.

Well enough chit chat here are some quick pics I just took of the car with my crappy digital camera. I was getting late and the sun was setting so they are not the best but you get a pretty good idea of what they look like.

Jake, Thanks for the compliments! It was cool to meet you in person and see your sweet Comp T/A on the Power Tour blasting down the interstate at well over 100 mph on a couple of occasions! :D

Since the #1976 Pewter Hot Rod Test Camaro got trashed on the Tour as you know, my father went to Berger Chevy on Thurs and bought the sister car. It is identical to the one the Hot Rod staff was driving, Pewter color and all, just not with the bent frame, floor pan, missing trans cross memmber, and the big 'ole hole in the tranny! :D The car he bought is #1977 and we will be going to Berger on Wed to pick it up with him. Sould be cool!

Greg ;)

Those wheels are totaly awesome. I hate to tell you this, but with the kind of $ you spent on those wheels, your rotors now look wimpy. Maybe time to think about some slotted/crossdrilled ones.

 WOW! Thanks for the compliments guys! :D I think they really set the car off!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I have been busy getting ready for a show and I just went with my father to pick up his new HOT ROD Magazine/Berger Chevrolet Camaro he just bought. It's 1 of only 35 made to Commemorate 35 years of Camaro production and pay tribute to the original Hot Rod Test Car Camaro. Pretty Cool!

Cory SS, I too wanted 18 x 11" wheels (iForged will build them in that size if you would want) but I opted for the 10.5" wheels instead.

With the Front Space dimensions I have on the rear you a could easily run a 18 x 11” wheel but the tire selection for 18” 315’s is so poor I chose a 295 size tire on a 10.5” wheel that is pushed out as far as the 11” wheels are.

I do not have any inner fender rubbing or bump stop clearance issues as I have an extra .5” of space on the inside of the wheel and tire than the guys do who run the 17 x 11 + 50mm ZR-1 wheels. Plus as the 18” tire selection grows better in the future, and with a 3 pcs. wheel, I could always get a .5” wider inner barrel put on my wheels to make them 11” wide in the rear and they would still fit. I guess I just let my master plan out of the bag.;)

Plus have you ever noticed how some 315 tires look like they are stretched too much by the 11" wheels? Depends on the tire of course, but I think the tire bulge of a 315 on a 10.5" wheel might look pretty sweet. Just something to think about.

Tell your dad congrats on his new ride!

Your right Greg the tire selections sucks, but I was thinking 335 or 345's oN the 11's...they are going on the SS...but I've got to do some frame notching to get them tucked under :( but will look so freakin sweet
