gears in my 98 z28

i have a 98 z28 with an A4. How do i know what gears i have??

either 2.73 or 3.23.........

i was wondering how i tell what one i have

i think if u have aluminum driveshaft then u have 3.23

steel.....2.73

check the code on your driver's side door. it will be the GU code, i think the A4's come in GU2 or GU5, i could be wrong. do a search in this forum, there have been posts that will tell you which code is which ratio...

Yep, the codes are GU2 (2.73) or GU5 (3.23) for automatic cars, and GU6 (3.42) for all the 6-speed cars:cool:.

Didn't some A4s have 3.42s?

nope, not in LS1 cars.
