Im getting ready to put Mobil 1 synthetic in my car at 9k miles. Is there a particular filter I need with synthetic or one that performs better with synthetic? Or does it really matter? Thanks.

Oil Filter QuestionUSHotRod 06-14-2003, 10:20 AM Im getting ready to put Mobil 1 synthetic in my car at 9k miles. KungFu 06-14-2003, 10:35 AM Just don't get a fram and you'll be okay. :D SwingDriverZ28 06-14-2003, 03:39 PM Not that I have one or anything;) but what the heck is wrong with a fram oil filter.... I Greed4Speed 06-14-2003, 04:54 PM Frams have less surface area to their filter, the ends of the filter (internal) are card board. Basically, they cut too many corners in the design. W/out paying for M1, KN etc, AC filters do very well. I've also heard good things about the supertech filters at Wal-Mart. I'm trying to find more info about them. 2002Z28SSConv 06-14-2003, 10:02 PM For all of your oil related questions, ... www.bobistheoilguy.com enjoy! There is no need to look any further. You'll never read all the info there. Aneurysm 06-15-2003, 12:47 AM hmm.. I started putting synthetic in right away, after only a few thou. I also heard somewhere the cars come stock with synthetic, don't know if it's true, who knows. But as for a filter, just stick with the stock AC Delco, I say. Same with the spark plugs. 96LT14u2Nv 06-15-2003, 02:42 AM fram sucks. if u accidently tighten the filter too much......good luck getting it back off. that damn "sure grip" makes it almost impossible to use a oil filter wrench on. plus........ John Force is a spokesperson for them and i HATE john force. USHotRod 06-15-2003, 11:04 AM See, this is why I come here before I do anything now. I had a Fram in my hand ready to buy but I decided to ask you guys first. Thanks for the info. | ||
