Use it when you want to cut all the crap off your finish before applying new stuff. If used on a regular basis, yes, it can be bad. But in this case, no. Sparky, after you dawn wash and then clay, you can use whatever you want to for the second wash. There shouldnt be anything left for the dawn to cut through. So if you want, g'head and use dawn, or meguiars, or mothers, or zaino soap. Mark</font> Ok, everyone read this VERY closely, I have to answer this question 4 or 5 times per day on different boards. This is directly from Sal Zaino and is his offical word. Dawn is only used ONCE and only ONCE BEFORE your first coat of Zaino EVER. Dawn has NO place in the Zaino system after that. The only reason Dawn is used as it is an excellent grease cutter and will remove whatever oils is present on the paint left over from previously used waxes (Zaino does not use an oil on the paint) Dawn will NOT strip Zaino. If you want to clay the car, that is fine. Wash the car with Z-7 Show Car Wash, dry it, clay it, and re wash with Z-7 and dry again.
