JeffK95Z 06-13-2003, 12:24 PM Hey Shaun, what time are you going to be up and at 'em tomorrow?
I'm thinking around 10ish perhaps? If thats not too early for you?
also, whos going to be showing up? I know cory said he would, and perhaps Jimbo? Matt, any chance you are able to lend a hand or 2?
I wanna install new plugs/wires/coil and ideally my LS1 brakes...
Once I arrive, no doubt my car will be entirely too hot to start on the plugs/wires, but the brakes should be ok to go on.
Anyone have any tips on some uncommon tools/items we might need?
I'm going to have a bunch of tie wraps for wires, brake cleaner, wd-40 for ceased bolts and such, but can't really think of anything else... Of course aside from normal hand tools.
Oh, I've heard you need to punch out some rivits on the coil bracket, how hard is it, or what do you use even?
Thanks guys!! I'm looking forward to getting these things done and seeing if it wakes up the car a little... And also getting under there to check out the driveshaft/u-joints/tranny mount as i hear some clunking noises on take off

97TA-WS6-Con 06-13-2003, 01:31 PM I have done the LS1 brakes a couple of times Jeff.
10.00 is fine. Garage is a mess though so may have the back of the car on the driveway.
ls1_bc 06-13-2003, 01:31 PM Go here http://www.installuniversity.com/install_university/support/installu_documents.htm
you will get a good idea of what you need to swap out you plugs and cables. Let me know how you make out I have to do mine within the next couple of weeks. That #8 plug is supposed to be a real b$tch.
Good Luck
CoryM 06-13-2003, 01:41 PM Looks like I am going to have to finish a job saturday morning. I hope to be finished by 11-12 so hopefully I will still be of some use.

JeffK95Z 06-13-2003, 02:19 PM Cory, no worries dude, and LS1 Bc, i'm not sure how different the LT1 plugs are vs. the LS1's, but I've done plugs and wires once on car and it wasn't much fun!! hehe
Shaun, wonderful!! I didn't know you had done the upgrade... Did you re-use your stock LT1 brake lines? As thats what I'm hoping to do!
And thanks again!!

talos 06-13-2003, 05:27 PM CONGRADULATIONS!
JeffK95Z 06-14-2003, 12:43 AM thx guys :)
I have a slight idea of what i'm getting into, but not knowing is part of the fun!! hehe
so I picked up my plugs tonights, got me some nice TR-55's... I've been using them for the past 4 years (2 plug changes) and they seem great! I'll be interseted in seeing how these plugs are doing actually, as I only changed them about a year and a half ago, perhaps only 15,000 kms... but I figure if i'm in there doin wires, whats 20 bucks for new plugs!
I got some brake fluid as well, as no doubt we'll loose some taking the lines off the old stuff
Payam, Meidy had the same thing happen, she ended up doing another sesmister as well, other wise she would of been done awhile ago, but it wasn't that bad... Just think of the great feeling once its all done and over with :)
Then join the rest of us in the real world, heheh
workin for the man... 9-5... bah!! :)
Craig, lookin forward to seeing you man, and checkin out the beast!! Eager to see how it runs!
jeff
sleeperZragtop 06-14-2003, 03:16 AM How many guys does it take to change some plugs and brakes? Damn LT1 guys  ....I'm just kidding...it's good to see support...
JeffK95Z 06-14-2003, 12:13 PM hehehe, its more for the beer I think ;)
but yes, i'm quite pleased with people saying they'll come out and help!
I'll appoligize for how dirty my car is now however... Driving over rogers pass and such in april with lots of snow and road dirt everywhere makes underneath quite the mess :(
I'd like to get it up on some ramps eventually with some de-greaser and really give it a good going over!
I'll be leaving in 20 minutes for your place Shaun, but I don't think I'll make it for 10... perhaps 20 minutes late
but see you soon!
THanks,
jeff!!
CoryM 06-14-2003, 01:30 PM Im not sure when Im gonna make it. This job I am doing has turned into a ****ing gong show. Wrong parts, missing parts etc.
Anyhow, hopefully Ill see you later.
CoryM
JeffK95Z 06-15-2003, 12:15 AM And home again...
Thanks so much to both Shaun and Cory... Without who I'd never of been able to get this stuff done!! Thanks a million guys!!
The car has lost its low rpm stumble, but I never had nerve to check the upper miss :) but it does feel ALOT better below 2000 rpm when light on the throttle! Which is great!
The brakes seem great as well, there is no shimmy or shaking when i'm on the brakes with light pressure...
However, that bloody steering knuckle is bent :( Or it certinally seems it! The passenger front wheel's camber? is way off! With the top of the wheel angled out, and the bottom in... it looks like this: / heheh, not fun!!
Think of the way the steering wheel normally sits with the wheels straight, and for my car to go straight, the wheel is turned to the right about 20 degrees or so, doesn't feel the greatest driving from cloverdale to my house around canada way and boundry! But i made yet thankfully
And the tire actually looks no worse for the punishment it received... HOPEFULLY the alinment shop will be able to fix the issue, but we're thinking not :(
I'll get in touch with the dude that I bought them from, and let him know the situation, and I'll try to re-confirm that the car was NOT in an accident, but i'm sure I asked him that several times before I bought the stuff from him.
It might take me a week to get an alignment done however... perhaps next saturday, but thankfully I don't need my car in the mean time.
Again, thanks a ton Shaun and Cory!! You guys were great!
And then, it went something like, who opened the gates of hell and let that black devil with the chrome roll bar out?!?! heheh
We took Shauns car to mopac for the steel braided LS1 brake lines (that I need to return, as we didn't need them after all)... but my dear god...
All I could think of was when he got into it was, (I was trying to watch the FAST setup on the laptop and the road as we ATE it up) ok, this is 70 % tps, and now we're at 100%... like, SERIOUSLY planted in the seat... but then review the logs, and all i could do was shake my head and laugh... we never even got over 55 % tps :) What I thought was 70-100, was 30-50... hahah Its NUTS!!!!!!!
The blow off value sounds SOOO good, and that FAST setup is unbelievely awsome!! Real-time updated of the fuel grid is so amazing... EXTEMELY impressive... My poor tunercat seems so old and antiquated, hehe
But now to go clean up and check in with the dude I got the LS1 stuff from...
a for the most part pleased with the days work, but a little disapointed, jeff (all i have to do is think about the ride in the black beast and i smile, so its all good, heheh)
97TA-WS6-Con 06-15-2003, 04:34 PM Well I felt for you when the wheel got bolted on. :(
Glad to leave you with at least a BIT of a unique experience. LOL
