HAHAHAHAHA there is JAPANESE Engineering for YA! I've never ever seen a stock LT1 blow up, thats called junk! Now I"m sorry but Over rev a stock motor with a rev limiter? Obviously it had to be stock judging by the looks of the car (stock body, first thing ricer mods) so obviously hahahaha, sorry, obviously the motor didn't over rev just broke from being built like $hit :)

Ps. He droped it into second gear? Hmm..... should not go into 2nd if its so high to blow a motor :)

Please tell me you're not serious :rolleyes: He was in 5th at 7000 rpms and tried to downshift to 4th, hit 2nd instead. You're telling me an LT1 would not blow up if it hit what, about 16k rpms? Go on, try it!

That's the problem with the 6-speed RSX transmissions, the gates are VERY close... I've heard of numerous people hitting the wrong gear and blowing them up already.

5-2 is a big jump. i could not see doing that. it is not any closer than our cars. a guy i knew at bcit let me drive his rsx type s or something like that. he said it was the fastest one they made so i can only assume it woulda had their best tranny. that and if you were at 7 grand why would you downshift? i can't see it being worth anything unless the reved to like 12k or higher, which i don't think they do. but i dunno :)

the assclown award is old though. seen it a few months ago :)

Actually the motor will not blow up. The back tires will loose traction and not allow the motor to reach too high of an rpm because we have RWD. But then again I've never known anybody to do a 5th to 2nd shift. Although I know a lot of people that have done 3rd to 2nd shifts.;)

Rev limiters don't stop mechanical over-rev...

nope they sure don't. they help when you would be driving normally, but there is nothing it can do if you downshift and send the revs up. cut off the gas and everything, but you engine is still trying to spin.

Its still funny any way u look at it but i dont want anthing like that to happin to my ta :)

You'd think there would be a way to prevent the engine from spinning that high.
Say a mechanical rev limiter of some sort........something that would stall the engine if a dangerous condition presented itself - like 9K+ rpm!

these cars must have a bad time for that because i saw jeremy (owner of enhanced autoworks) do that to his car too at ashcroft street legals.

even if you shut off the engine and keep it in gear it will still do it because the tires and everything are still trying to make it spin, when in gear. the only way to make it so you can't shift like that is to set up gates like our skipshift thingy for certain rpm's so it closes the gates and makes it so you can't get into that gear. that i know of anyways.

if the guy had skill hed press in the clutch right away therefore it wouldnt have time to grab and yank the motor that high, maybe just a little but not enough to scatter the POS lol:D

haha i've done that before! went to release once and started to feel it grap as i came off it.. and wham right back in that clutch went. :D it still managed to reach 5 grand. :think:
