Doubri 06-12-2003, 02:45 AM This has probably been asked before, but I didn't get any good results on a search within this section. I came across DoubleD Mechanics & Corvette Specialties on the web. Any one delt with either before, or suggestions for any other place in Surrey-Delta-Langley area? I have some ideas what I want done, but need to talk to someone reputable to explore my options & pricing for replacing my stock exhaust. Any non-biased recommendations welcome.
talos 06-12-2003, 02:50 AM most ppl would recommend talking to Dan from target muffler in portkell.... payam has the # i believe

bunker 06-12-2003, 02:57 AM Thats only true if you don't do your own work.
blue 79 Z/28 06-12-2003, 03:07 AM who builds there own exhaust?? lol thats lame, even if i had my own welder and bender i wouldnt do it lol:p
sideways_Into_3rd 06-12-2003, 03:07 AM since when do u make ur own roll cage.. weld in ur own muffler and LCA brackets .. run ur own dyno .. fill ur own nitrous bottles etc etc ?

Hmm... statement states "ALL" local shops, therefore relaying the message that you need "ALL" shops for "ALL/EVERY" purpose(s).

mr_muff 06-12-2003, 07:29 PM i talked to dan and he asked me what i drove, i told him and pointed to my car and he said 75/hour is what he works for. i then chuckled and started walking out. then he gave me his card and told him to call him when i want some work done. he isn't getting $75/h of my money to do something i could do for free or have someone else do for next to nothing. like trade an hour of two for work at his house or something. especially when he is a brake and muffler shop. he isn't even a mechanics shop as far as i could tellanyways.
talos 06-12-2003, 07:43 PM ok muff
headers, y-pipe, offroad pipe, mufflers, tail pipes = $200 and a good morning and afternoon.
mr_muff 06-12-2003, 09:37 PM yea thats good, but why would he want 75 bucks when i told him that johnny and armen and some other guys said 50 bucks. he looked at my car and said 75 bucks. does he think just because mine is newer or something i have more money. like wtf really that is the only thing i can think of as to why he would want more. **** i have like no money because of my car payments and insurance. his shop sure didn't look like it was worth 75/h in my opinion. couple guys under a customers car just ****ing around doing SFA, and the place was a mess. didn't look like the kinda place i would want to leave my car for an hour. i don't think i want someone ****ing around and welding on my car.
but hey if he gies you a good price sometimes you can't go wrong. wish i woulda gotten one
thats my $.02
sideways_Into_3rd 06-12-2003, 09:42 PM i dunno .. he's startin to charge more than he used to .. sometimes its just about ur attitude i guess ...
he WAS gonna charge me more for my LCA brackets .. but i just gave him what he used to charge...
ever since he cut his hair and grew a goatee he jacked his rates too
bunker 06-12-2003, 09:47 PM Thats kinda true, I mean I remember when you'd come there, tell him what you want done & He'd be like $50, sounded awesome, now its Per/Hour bullcrap, might aswell go somewhere else then drive all the way out there to get charged hourly rate. Especially since he pockets all the money.
mr_muff 06-12-2003, 09:58 PM is he a real mechanic and/or any of his guys working for him?
if nt i don't see how he can get off with charging 75/hour for a brake and muffler place.
sideways_Into_3rd 06-12-2003, 10:03 PM no he's just a muffler guy .. the guys next door (byron) are the real mechanics / performance guys ..
honestly his quality of work as depretiated as well .. his welds look like crap and he isnt as accurate with measurements anymore
but he can put out a burning weld spot with his bare hands
hey i welded my muffler on my car!
but then again, im a mechanic.
