Zaino first timer

Well, I just Zaino'd my black daily driver today.

I've tried many , many different products over the many years I've been detailing my (mostly black)cars.

There is one important fact that I've learned..how you prep and how you use the individual product is of paramount importance to fantastic results.

With that said, I can tell you that I think Zaino is good stuff..maybe as good as some of the better ones that I have used...but I am not yet convinced that it is the miracle product that some of you Zainoholics describe it as.

I'll keep using it and let you know when I have more coats on....I might change my mind.

I agree that prep work is very important towards getting the best possible results from any paint finish. In fact, I'd say a perfect show car like finish is 90% prep work, i.e. claying, swirl removing, polishing, etc...

There are products that can produce an initial high shine that's as good as Zaino. It's not that hard to do with oils and silicones... BUT, the kicker is that those products don't usually last longer than a week or two before it's time to rewax. After the first rain or a wash or two, the shine/slickness is usually gone. Not so with Zaino! One of it's absolute best benefits is the abilty to hold that initial high shine and slickness for months rather than weeks. Also, Zaino is one of the VERY few products that can layer to increase protection, gloss, and the wet mirror look. When you add a few more coats of Z, compare how well the Zaino shine and slickness lasts compared to whatever you were using before...

Assuming you bought the Z7 wash and Z6, a neat effect of the Z system is that the shine actually seems to improve after your first wash with Z7.

I have used products which shine just about as well as Zaino. In my opinion, they all shine just as well as one another. But, LONGEVITY is the key. Any wax I have used is gone in 2-3 weeks. Zaino will last much longer and it builds - unlike wax.

since your car is black, i hope you are using the zaino swirl "remover" (filler), that stuff is a MIRACLE on dark cars!

Do you mean Z5? I'll add a coat in the next few days. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Like people above have said its Zaino's longevity. Oh I can get just as nice of a waxing with Meguire's Gold Class (my fav b4 Zaino) but I would have to be out there every week doing it. Not with Zaino.

The weather has been bad here lately, so I haven't had a chance to Z5 over my Z1/Z2.

When I do Z5..can I expect a duller shine than Z2?

The protection and durability is the best thing about Zaino, the shine is icing on the cake. The fact that it stacks and the more layers you add, the better the shine, protection and durability, is a definite advantage too.

But I understand Z5 is less shiney than Z2...is that true?

My eyes can't really tell much difference at all.

i have black also - and use Z5 about 90 % of the time . . .

that being said, I cant offer a comparison between shine as Z5 vs Z2

BUT

when i go see a customer, and they look the "glow" of my 3 yr. old winter driven daily driver - thats usually enough to convince them that Z5 shines just fine. http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

Hey guys, thanks for the details about Zaino, I was ready to ask what makes it so great. I've been using Nu Finish for years. It's the easiest stuff I've ever used and it does last a long time. I prefer it to carnauba wax any day. One thing I like a lot is how it can be applied in full sun w/o problems since I have no shade to work in.

I would only use Nu Finish on a older weathered car, it contains strong solvents (just smell it) and fine abrasives, see the MSDS sheet below and look at the solvent content:
