Post Keeping break dust of rims...(everyone check this out)

What can I do to keep break dust from sticking to the rims? Is there some kind of spray I can put on that will repel it or anything like that?

Not yet, but soon. If you use a synthetic product on your wheels it will make them much easier to keep clean

Hmmm, yes, can't wait!

Like Carl suggested, use whatever wax or sealant product you use on the paint on the wheels also. Waxes will melt from the extreme heat, synthetics will last much longer and protect better.

I used Zaino (z2,z5) on one of my rims(front) and after a few days there was twice as much brake dust on it than any of the other(even the passenger side).

Polishing can cause a static charge to build up that attracts dust like a magnet. Also, it's possible for a static charge to be generated by braking action.

For your situation, follow the polish with a mist application of Z6 and wipe the wheel down thoroughly.

Be sure to wash the dirty Zaino'd wheel before you apply Z6. Brake dust can be extremely abrasive.

I agree with Jeff. It may not necessarily be the Zaino that is causing the dust buildup, but the static. At certain times of the year, I get quite a bit of static from polishing the paint. This will cause increased dust attraction than normal, but is not directly related to Zaino as the cause.

Also, my Z polished wheels do not stay perfectly clean either, brake dust does build up. BUT, the real benefit is that the dust does not stick to Zaino and makes cleaning up the wheels very quick and easy. The dust usually wipes right off with no hard rubbing or scrubbing...which is the main reason I use Z on the wheels.
