What do you know....a W-car poll.

Which will be the hottest W-car of them all?

Because the GTP is the only one that's getting the new Series III engine this year, it has a power advantage. Plus it's got the latest suspension and chassis upgrades and the interior almost doesn't suck.

Certainly Pontiac has the most well developed W-car and currently the most established enthusiast base with the supercharged GTP.

If Chevy offers less in the M/C and Impala SS ( less power, less suspension than Grand Prix), let's hope they don't have a brain fart, and actually price them less than a comparable GTP or GTP with the Comp package.

If that happens...I think the Chevy supercharged W-sisters will take off.

If Chevy can make these cars easier to get into, and once the hot rodding commences....no one will even remember the power difference between Pontiac and Chevy.

Hot Rodding is Chevrolet's domain. I don't see anyone buying a GTP and then hopping it up, but it's easy to imagine with the Impala and I've seen it done plenty out here in LA.

Just a side note, the only difference between the GTP and SS as far as power output is 30 horsepower. There's no difference in torque, so unless you drive in excess of 145 mph daily, odds are no one here would notice the difference even if bit ya.

I completely agree that hot rodding is the domain of Chevrolet. But out here, I see so many hot rodded GTP's. Most of them are set up for the drag strip....but last year, at an autocross, I met a guy running a Street Prepared GTP.

He had all the common engine mods that most people run 13's with...but he also went ALL OUT on his suspension. After market brakes, lowered and modified suspension, 17" wheels......GEEZ LOUISE...he went around the track fast!

I'd vote none but you didn't add it. No more V6 FWD already.

This is the SoCal rice Fast and Furious era of automotive performance and customization. They're going to go buy the GTP, they're going to buy the body kit and the Comp G package and they're GOING to put wide wheels and tires and an exhaust on it. Why? The Grand Prix actually LOOKS the part of a performance car. The Impala SS looks docile and more old-timey performance than the new one. The Camaro guys don't dig it like they digged the B-body Impala SS, and the import guys don't dig it because it looks like a Chevy Impala. It's like Toyota offering a big motor in a Toyota Avalon without any real appearance modifications.

I actually voted Monte because it's the only coupe of the bunch, however I can see the GTP being most popular because it has already established its performance market.

Not gonna happen....get used to it...

The Impala has 240HP, the GP has 260....about a 20 HP difference.

The big thing for me is the GP is much more attractive on the inside then an Impala.

If GM would give the Impala a decent interior I think alot of complaints would go away.

I choose the GTP but I was torn between it and a Monte SS. I choose those because the are the most sporty and the lightest and fastest.

I chose GTP... for two reasons:

1) It starts off with 20 more hp... people like that. ;)

2) The previos GTP's have had a bit of a cult following... and their following has been based on S/C'd FWD performance... so few people will complain about it not being RWD, V8.

The only thing against the new GTP is the lack of a 2-door model. That may hurt it... and may offer the Monte Carlo SuperCharged SS is chance to take this title.

I think the GTP will still be the W-car of choice when it comes to modifications. Its been the hottest version of the W-car since 97 (with the 2 door model + S/C 3800). The fact that the GP will have the Series III first will probably further soldify its status.

Yes it is gonna happen, isn't GM looking to go RWD V8 (RWD at least) with the Impala and MC?! IMO the GTP and GS can stay that way but those cars should be RWD.
