Burnaby police are investigating a possible case of street racing that sent two elderly people to hospital.

At about 9 p.m. Monday night, a BMW crashed into the back of a Ford Escort on Marine Drive near Boundary Road.

Police say at least two witnesses saw another car, and say both were travelling at excessive speeds.

"There was a white Acura Integra involved as well that left the scene of the accident," said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mark McCutcheon.

"It looks like the Integra was going quite fast and cut the BMW off. The BMW swerved to miss the Acura and ended up losing control and running into the back of the Escort."

Now RCMP want to speak to the driver of the Acura, as well as anyone else who may have witnessed the accident.

The accident comes as police are warning drivers not to emulate the high-speed antics in the street-racing sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, which opened in theatres this week.

that is just great. things are going to get out of hand again and then people will start overreacting again. get ready to be pulled over for anytihng. they will probably start towing parked cars that looked like they might be racers again.:mad:

Oh well what can we do, other than keep our racing to the track ;)

dude i saw that car lol... its like when my sister speeds in our moms minivan right by a cop... (last time she was doing 80 on como lake 50 zone) and the cop didnt bother pullin her over lol

i go 51 in the firefury i get pulled over.. (months ago when i started accelerating at a light (cop was 2 lanes on my left i didnt notice him) he followed me and pulled me over quick and said:

Cop: "u are going 51, u were going to speed!"
Me: "no i just enjoy accelerating up to the speed limit"
Cop: "no you were going to speed.."
Me: "okay...."
Cop: "i will let you off with a warning this time.. blah blah blah"

not like hes going to give u a ticket for "going to speed":p

You might get a ticket for excessive accelerating! :D:D:D:D lol

I'll emulate whatever I want on the streets!!

you guys have all heard my excessively loud car and I drive like a crazy person = NEVER get pulled over. Even in my PIMPED out Z, I never got pulled over!!!
