A different kind of "swirls" than you are thinking! Can you help?

Ok, I have MANY MANY swirl/ scratches in my paint. I am not worried about these kind, since a new paint job will fix that(There is TOO many to try and get rid of). And since a new paint job isn't in my near future, I was wondering how to get these other types of swirls out.
They look like like the car was buffed, but not ALL THE WAY *unbuffed*
They aren't permenant like the lil scarthes/swirls that everyone gets, I think they got there when I had a few things painted on my car and the guy did a low quality buff job.
Basically, when looking from different angles in the light, you can see these swirls that are in a circular motion, and it looks very ugly. My car is really clean, but these just give it an *old* look.
Does anybody know if I buff the car RIGHT, will the old buff mars/swirls go away?
Any help would be great! I would like to tackle this ASAP.

The best I can recommend is some 3M Swirl Mark Remover #39009 or Meguiar's #9 SMR. It may take several applications of either or both to get the best results, unless the swirls are too deep which requires an even more aggressive product like a rubbing compound.

I have the same exact problem,and I'm also getting a new paint job(October). Where do you buy the 3m Swirl remover?

</font> ok, I think that you are thinking of the lil scratches/swirls that are in the clear coat. Don't get me wrong, I do have these. But I am talking about buff marks/swirls
It looks JUST like it was buffed, but never *un-buffed*
My car is black, so it is VERY easy to see them.
Does anybody know what swirls I am talking about now?

IF the marks you are talking about are only visible in sunlight at a specific angle AND the look completely proportional and parallel and perfectly round, then they aren't swirl marks or buffer marks. The paint used is a crystalline paint and what you are seeing is the sunlight reflecting off the crystalline paint in the base color, below the clear coat, there is nothing you can do about it except a complete new paint job with a different kind of paint.

</font> Wow, that sounds rough! It makes sense since the paint shop that did the work after a minor accident, seemed pretty cheap! And I can only see it as you described. So I think I am gonna have to pay Lee a visit.
He (the guy at the shop) already owes me my godam door panel, weather stripping, and the godam front bumper that he painted for me, is cracking already. I got this done in January ad it is already making me look bad http://web.camaross.com/bb/smile.gif

</font> As I said before, I got this done at a shop that seemed to do *cheap* work. I ONLY had my driver door,driver 1/4 panel, driver fender, bumper, and passenger fender painted there, but those swirls/marks I am talking about also shows up on the hood, where there was no new paint added to it. But it was buffed, so why is it on the hood too? Any ideas? Thanks

These marks I'm talking about are in every GM car from the factory. Both my SS's have it as does every Camarp and Firebird I've ever seen. BUT, they aren't hardly noticeable on light colored cars.

I think I need to get my car keyed by some A-hole and then I can get a new paint job! I can't see myself spending around $2,000 on a paint job for my car that was just painted a few months ago.
I hate this part!

</font> After I re-read this, I realized that, these marks weren't there before I brought the car to that shop (stock-paint) and after he painted the 2 fenders,new driver's door, and the 2 1/4 panels, I noticed it on the driver's side (basically the whole side was painted) and the hood. But the hood wasn't touched with new paint! But he did buff the hood becuase I watched him do it. The only reason I keep talking about the buffing, is if you saw these swirls/marks, they are IDENTICAL to when you buff your car with wax.
I am lost here.
I think I am just gonna have to deal with it if I get a few opinions from a few different detail and paint shops and they tell me its there for good http://web.camaross.com/bb/frown.gif
