Victoracers Tire PressureJeff94TA 06-04-2003, 09:19 AM Just bought a set of 245/45 16 Kumho Victoracers and my first autocross on the new tires is this Sunday. What tire pressures work well with the Kumho's? Check my sig for my car and it's mods. KeithO 06-04-2003, 11:51 AM I have a similar setup to yours, but no Eibach stuff. I run about 35 front, 30-31 rear as a starting point and adjust from there. steve-d 06-04-2003, 07:19 PM Hi all, As long as we're talking about Victor tires, I've purchased a set for the track. Any suggestions as to TP? Thanks in advance. Steve Jeff94TA 06-04-2003, 09:27 PM Thanks for the response Keith and yes I'm curious about the track as well. My next open track event isn't until September but I would like those thoughts as well. KeithO 06-05-2003, 05:30 AM I have only ever tracked on street tires (never on r-compounds - too expensive). In general, I put more pressure in my street tires for open tracking versus autocrossing. The reason for this is safety more than better handling, etc. When I autox on my street tires, I have run as low as 29 front, 26 rear. At autocross speeds, I won't go lower than this because I don't want to risk pulling the tire off the bead. For this same reason, I would likely go higher when I track on the Victoracers someday. My instincts would be to start at 38/35 and try to maintain this (or a slightly higher pressure) when the tires get hot. Jeff94TA 06-05-2003, 08:27 AM I've only tracked the car once and it was bone stock at the time. I was running something like 42 front and 36 rear on my street tires just trying to save the outside edges. Still chewed up the fronts nicely though. Oh, BTW I'm talking hot pressures. KeithO 06-05-2003, 08:43 AM OK, good point. Just to be clear. All of the pressures that I gave are cold. redimpss5 06-06-2003, 03:05 AM keith, that helps a bunch!! if you drive to the track and check them then, it wont work!! drive there and let the car sit for a hour or so then adjust. this will help a bunch! remember, if you have to much pressure after you run, drop some. rule is, it is easier to let out then pump them up on grid. KeithO 06-06-2003, 06:21 AM Everything that you say is correct. Whether it is an autocross or a track day, you typically show up early and end up letting the car sit, register, unload, go through tech, then wait a little longer before you run. I check the pressures during the "wait a little longer" phase of the day. Also, to speed things up, I typically take my best guess on pressure, add 2 pounds, then come down as the event progresses. This is quicker and easier (especially at an autocross) than adding air between runs, just like you said. BobC 06-07-2003, 06:09 AM on the track try 35f, 31r cold pressures. mark with white shoe polish. KeithO 06-07-2003, 06:13 AM Hey BobC! Just to let you know, the Victoracers that I bought from you are very helpful. In fact, I call them "magic tires". I have run 3 events on them and won all three. I ran 4 others events at a club that requires true street tires for stock and I have 4 second places over there... chuck 06-07-2003, 12:01 PM I run 32-33 rear / 37-38 front for autox. | ||
