Is this covered under factory warranty?

I was under my car the other day trying to figure out the pulsating squeek in the rear was coming from. During my wonderful time down there I noticed that both my shocks are mildly leaking. They're not to wet, but wet none the less. Do you guys think they are covered under the orginal factory warranty?

If i'm not mistaken the deCarbon shocks are gas charged shocks. So i dont understand how you are seeing a leak, However, if they are defective, they should be covered under the factory waranty.

gas charged shocks eh? Hmmm, well I'm seing wet residue on both shocks where the joints are. Joints meaning where one part of the shock goes into the other.

If not who cares. They only cost $25 from slp.

$25 for those shocks? If they are bad and aren't under warranty I'll prob just keep'm on til they get crappy. I've seen wore out shocks and these aren't too bad. I'll eventually replace them with Bilsteins or something of the like. Just wonderin if anyone had an issue with a shock and had it replaced under warranty.

KungFu i would have them changed out by the dealer under your waranty. There aint nothing like failure of a part. It can wind up costing you more money in the long run. Besides if its under a factory warranty what is there to lose except for the time it takes them to change them out for you?

They are takeoffs from the cars SLP converted. From the dealer? Alot more.

Blkknight speaks the truth the decarbons arent bad shocks relitive to some of the brands they have out there, not that there super good either. However, I dont even want to know what a GM dealer would charge for a set of them, I do know that 25 is a steal and a half, but if there defective you shouldnt even have to pay 25 bucks for them cause the factory waranty should take care of it.

...the stockers are not gas charged...they are oil filled...trust me..when I couldn't get the top bolt of to get the springs off I sawzawed the shock in half and boy was that a mistake...green oil everywhere :o ...is your car lowered with springs? Thta could cause a valving issue...maybe invest in some Bilsteins...and 25.00 for replacements...NO

Just because a shock is gas-charged does not mean it does not have oil in it. All shocks have oil in them. The difference is that the balance of space is taken up with air on some (standard shocks) and nitrogen on others (gas charged). Nitrogen is less likely to mix into the oil during hard use and when the oil gets hot from friction. The DeCarbons are gas charged, that is why they have a warning label on them that says not to cut or heat them.

Almost all new cars use a "gas-charged" technology in the shocks/struts. It would be rare to see one that didn't.
