I found out that the new edelbrock carb that came with my car is only a 600..how much power would I gain by going up to a 750 or 800 edelbrock. I am happy with the carb just worried it choking my 400 engine.

How much more power with bigger carb??80TA 05-30-2003, 10:39 PM I found out that the new edelbrock carb that came with my car is only a 600..how much power would I gain by going up to a 750 or 800 edelbrock. I am happy with the carb just worried it choking my 400 engine. angel71rs 05-31-2003, 08:54 PM When I first installed a SBC 400 in my 71, I used the same 600 Holley I had been running on the original 350 to minimize new parts bugs. With tuning, I ran about a 14.1 at our local 4,000 ft altitude track. Then I put on a 780 Holley. Best time: 13.7. The carb size formulas will say it isn't using all the airflow capacity of the 780 (I shift at 5,500), but it is quicker with it. Perhaps it's due to the quality of the airflow with the lower restriction. If you have a mild engine (small cam, no headers, low compression, etc) it might not make as much of a difference. 96LT14u2Nv 06-08-2003, 10:57 PM with your engine mods i dont think that a bigger carb would add power to your combo. a 650cfm carb should support up to 400-450 hp in my experience. zx1216 06-10-2003, 07:02 PM Do you guys think the 600 carb is holding my setup back? It sees 6k while racing. i'm looking into getting a 750 speed demon. Any thaughts on this carb? | ||
