When replacing the spark plug wires with Taylor "409" wires, do you have to re-use the the stock metal tube and spring that is around the wire down by the the headers? I noticed that the ends of the new wires do not fit into these cylinders. Do I need to get something else to protect them from the heat? Thanks

I bought Taylor Thundervolts and had the same question! They sent the wires with appropriate heat shields....but call and make sure they aren't sold seperately. I say this because nothing is a suprise anymore....except constant service with the customer in mind!!!!

I talked to some other people with Thundervolts also and they say you do not need any heat shields.

Anyways, how do I access every wire on the passenger side of the motor?

http://www.installuniversity.com/ Look in "Install Documents" under "Engine". You can move the coil pacs and AIR tubes to get more room.
Your only doing wires? Why go thru the hassle and not do the plugs at the same time?

I just put the bosch platinum +4's in my car after 24k on the oem ones. I was suprised at the increased throttle response and improved idle. The OEM plugs were burnt and the gap was off bigtime on all the plugs. I would definitely reccomend doing the plugs if you are going to fight with the stock wires anyhow.

You hear these things from Ford ppl? hehehe j/k

I'd change the plugs if they haven't been changed in awhile.

I had serious problems with 2 sets of the bosche platinum plugs and wires , so i was surprised to see a success story. Good Luck with them.

As for any wires i wouldnt use the factory looms, they hold the wire far to close to heat sources, its almost as if GM wants them to burn up over time. I use cable ties instead.
