How well does the LS1 respond to s/c?

I think I'm pretty set on doing a LT1 S/C. But, if a fabulous deal comes along for a LS1 under $8k, I don't want to pass on it just because it's not a LT1.

Basically my buildup for the LS1 would be the same as a LS1 (.030, worked heads-possibly Vortec series ala AMS, LS6 intake, s/c)

Just wondering....

Due to the great heads, an LS1/LS6 will gain quite a bit more hp/lb of boost than an LT1.

Would my initial cost difference be offset by the power gained?

How does the two motors compare in price?
By that, I mean are the same mods more, less, or the same as the LT1.

Say I can get a slightly used LT1 shortblock for $900 according to recent posts in the forsale section. I could use some of the stock pieces in the buildup. Or are LS1 parts just as or more expensive than LT1 parts?

I realize that there are going to be some things that are cheaper on the LT1 side, due to a few reasons. I just don't want to double the price of a project because I went LS1.
